Song of the Century "I've been selling my soul, working all day, overtime hours, for bullshit pay"
You load 16 tons, and what do you get
It’s just ok. Nothing more. Why is it so groundbreaking?
Music is very subjective and I can understand the appeal of this tune to many people: one guy (Anthony’s personal story is inspiring), a guitar and a mic, some animals around him, lyrics bemoaning politicians, and all the right facial contortions and faux strained expressions MTV nation has come to expect from its bread and circuses.
It’s pushing all the right buttons, and for 80MM+ disenfranchised Americans, I can see them being drawn to this song.
But if this song was full of leftist lyrics, everybody would say it sucks. Again, I have nothing against Anthony. I empathize with the lyrics and, of course, love the message. I simply wish it was “better.”
Elevating the average or mundane to some lofty, unjustified height is what the commies did with Socialist Realism. The only thing missing here is the sanctioning of the state.
Well another day older and deeper in debt that’s what.
there is a union song in response...basically quit your complaining and join the union.
And the globalists want our souls belonging the company store with CBDC.
Not so much groundbreaking as a serious bunch of simple statements about things we all should be mad at; constructs the dumb ass tyrants of the left have put in place of the great constructs that made America a stellar nation once. Self-evident, yet profoundly important to repeat.
Sorry, I posted the wrong “reaction video” They may have taken down the one I liked - it was POWERFUL.
I’ll see if I can find it.
Here’s the reaction video that made me cry. Of course it’s not on Youtube:
And yet the unions jobs cannot support the family either. The unions lose on that.
It's a song for the current times, but will have fleeting appeal as time and events move on.
It's certainly not going to have the legs of Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the U.S.A."
“belonging the company store with CBDC.”
I think we will belong to whatever 15-minute city we are in.
Bfl
yes... but misery loves company i guess.
Did you just wake up from a really long nap?
Agreed. Maybe it was because people were talking so glowingly about it, but I was underwhelmed when I listened to it. I certainly agree with much of the sentiment, but I wasn’t impressed with the lyrical quality.
Put yourself in the shoes of million aged 21-35, trying to buy a house today, trying to get ahead? I thought I had it bad buying my first house in East Los Angeles in 1978. They can’t even afford that anymore. And they, the people, see DC as more protective of their “minors” they had on Epsteins Island than miners working today. I mean, DC will never release the names in that book to the public. We’d see exactly what our taxes are paying for. This should make us angry. But we have become conditioned to accept pedophilia. It’s a damn shame
Hank Williams Jr. did something similar in 1979, but there was no internet to make it a sensation back then.
