A vehicle plowed through seven pedestrians at a Midtown Manhattan crosswalk late Sunday night, leaving at least one critically injured, according to police and law enforcement sources.
The driver behind the wheel of a Honda Accord hit the seven victims around 11:55 p.m. at West 36th Street and 6th Avenue as the suspect kept driving to the Midtown tunnel toward Queens, sources said.
Five pedestrians were rushed to Bellevue Hospital with at least one person in critical condition, sources said.

Per the above, the 29 YO perp ran a red light.
And no ID for her yet.
Prayers up for these people.
I never, ever, ever walk into a crosswalk until I have made eye contact with a driver and the driver is slowing or stopped.
Never.
This is one of the reasons why, amongst others.
Of course, I am one of those people who, when the light changes for me to cross a busy road, I look both ways before depressing the accelerator. Quickly, mind you, but I do look.
NYC Council eyes ‘illuminated’ solar-power crosswalks to curb pedestrian deaths
Yup, that'll make drivers obey traffic controls.
SNORT.
I’d like to know how many car accidents nowadays come from the driver having a “coincidental” heart attack.
That’s a very good question.
But in my neck of the woods it’s still more likely to be a driver who’s drunk and/or stoned, or just doesn’t give a damn.
There are rarely legal or civil consequences for drivers who cause serious injury or death anymore.
Just another reason I hate no-fault car insurance and legal weed.
And how many pedestrians were glued to their iPhones?
There’s a zillion security cams in that city......chances are one or more of ‘em caught her behind the wheel during the incident......Alvin Bragg protected no doubt.
“the suspect kept driving to the Midtown tunnel toward Queens, sources said.”
Someone in a hurry to get to Queens?
The driver fled the scene, but got into an accident about a half an hour later on the Long Island Expressway at 188th St. in Fresh Meadows, police said. She was taken into custody.
The bad news is, she probably won't face serious consequences. It all depends on several factors:
1. How many "protected class" points does the driver check off?
2. Is the driver politically or financially well connected?
3. How many "protected class" points do the victims in the crosswalk check off?
Ding ding ding
Made it to post 9 before blaming the victims.

Still no charges.
A Trump hating Democrat... what to beat the DA is too busy chasing bogus charges against Trump to charge the driver!

********
My husband is always getting irritated by other drivers: I am constantly reminding him how many drivers are driving impaired.
Ever driven in New York? I have. Manhattan is especially bad. Pedestrians will cross against RED lights if they think they can make it. And iPhones have almost nothing to do with it.
Honda Accords are the apparent problem.
Not just impaired.
In my neck of the woods cops aren’t writing traffic tickets any more for common infractions.
People get a slap on the wrist for serious violations.
We’ve been in two serious MVAs in two years caused by drivers who ignored traffic control.
And a couple of months ago my hubby saw a driver on an interstate do a u-turn and deliberately drive the wrong way up an entrance ramp onto that interstate in order to avoid a traffic backup.
She didn’t make the news.
Neither did the people who caused the two accidents that caused the backup.
Don’t get me started on my experiences in NYC.
And any driver with an unimpaired brain knows that pedestrians acting like idiots is also an increased risk these days.
If you’re smart, you drive accordingly.
And with a dash cam setup that is legal in the state of NY.
It takes some doing, but it can be done.
