Anyone work in retail here? it’s an old trick I guess
I bought a couple of gas cans at Wal-Mart yesterday, and was quite pleased when they rang up for about $5 less than marked on the shelf. $19-something versus $24-something.
.
Furniture stores are the worst.
Good catch by the kid.
That’s disgusting behavior on Wal-Mart’s part.
I wonder how many other of those rollback sheets are doing the same thing.
It’s like Bed, Bath, and Beyond, or even JoAnn Fabrics.
They are always having *sales*.
Anyone who pays full price is a fool.
Even Hobby Lobby has a lot of stuff, mainly furniture as always 20% off or so. Which means that is really their normal price.
Safeway uses red tags for major mark downs on products but it keeps the original price shown as well.
I love it when I see a red tag with the exact price as the regular price. I saw one just yesterday.
One trick to watch out for is the price when something goes off sale being higher than the previous non-sale price. It’s harder to notice in things you buy less often.
Car dealers do it every day......................
Next time I need a wall I’m gonna buy it someplace else!
Obviously not educated in a public school.
Nice job, dad!

They used to be this old family owned furniture store up on Main Street that had a going out of business sale banner up for at least 10 years. When the strip mall it was in refurbed the business sort of disappeared in place of a dialysis center. It was kind of humorous that the banner remained up there all those years. I guess it was a strategy and they thought that nobody would notice.
LOL From the mouths of babes.

Yes. old trick. Another one Walmart is pulling is charging the exact same price per ounce for large bulk containers as the price for smaller containers. No savings at all for buying bulk.
People are so cynical these days, even little kids.
The price could have been $6.77 for a few minutes right before they tacked up the Rollback signs.
“We raised the price before we lowered it.”
That happens in lots of stores, not just Walmart!
Another thing I noticed: charging much less in the international aisle for the same sort of item. So, 6-piece box costs more than 8-piece box in Hispanic foods. That was a grocery store, not Walmart.
Yep, there are lots of scams like that. They are allowed to get away with this kind of stuff because there are so many brain dead zombies on “autopilot” buying without any question or complaint.
When I was in Seminary in Johnson City, NY, in the ‘60s, a menswear store had a “Going Out Of Business Sale” banner for I don’t know how many years. It was always up. LOL!
Kid’s not that smart.
The front, temporary sign explains what the previous price was and what the new, regular price is—as also posted on the permanent sign below.
