Because billionaires like Oprah Winfrey, Larry Ellison, Jeff Bezos et all have been wanting to purchase this land from the Hawaiians who will not sell… this is prime real estate. If this was caused by hurricane winds 700 miles away? how did it miss the big island and only hit Maui? So by burning them all out and scorching it to the ground, will force them out of there.

As I recall Ellison already bought Lanai. And Zuckerberg already has a big chunk of the east side of Kauai and is trying to buy more. As soon as Amfac and Dole are ready to deal some of the folks you mention will be there, I expect. Not sure if Bishop Estate holds anything on Maui but if they do they’ll be selling too.
You can check out my comments about the Maui fire. It was natural, other than the fact that power companies should bury electric lines instead of stringing them up on poles. Causes a lot of fires, when trees and branches fall on the electric lines. Which is what happened on Maui.
