You can check out my comments about the Maui fire. It was natural, other than the fact that power companies should bury electric lines instead of stringing them up on poles. Causes a lot of fires, when trees and branches fall on the electric lines. Which is what happened on Maui.
The winds were so high, nothing could have stopped this.

Regarding wind driven fires, we had one in northeast Tennessee a few years back in a particularly dry summer. Some youngsters, despite a ban on fires, had a small campfire, and some 60+ mph winds took the embers many miles, resulting in a huge, fast fire in Gatlinburg, TN.
An interesting video from the Gatlinburg fire, where the narrator narrowly escapes coming down from the mountains, from Chalet Village. I have stayed in cabins in Chalet village in the past. Good part starts around 4:20 in.

My friend said the NG ordered 400 body bags, this was yesterday I think, and there are 1000 missing persons unaccounted for. It’s a hellish tragedy and the county did not alert people with the disaster sirens (or whatever they’re called) which would have helped. I’ll ask friend what the retired mayor of Maui has to say about this, they’re good friends.
