JUST IN: Former President Trump 'sold' his Mar-A-Lago, Florida estate just weeks before he was arrested in Fulton County, Georgia

According to Zillow, the residence was sold on August 4th 2023 for $422,000,000.

Upon closer inspection, it appears that the estate was transferred to his son Donald Trump Jr.

"While Zillow does not provide details about who bought the property, the website SunBiz said that the current owner of Mar-a-Lago is a company called Mar-a-Lago Inc., owned by the former president's eldest son," Newsweek reported.

Most of our national problems are because weak minds have been brainwashed so hard they don’t know their gender, can’t distinguish victims from oppressors, the past from the present, or anything else of substance.

The tools of mass brainwashing have massively improved lately. That’s the biggest story in 5 years but no journalist is qualified to write it because journalists are the easiest to brainwash (after scientists).

I’ve been learning so much about the Revolutionary War period since my induction into the Sons of the American Revolution. The participation of all of you has been such a fulfilling “online community” experience. I have to admit I had absolutely no conception of the breadth of combat and the staggering loss of life this all-out war cost both sides. The Philadelphia campaign was a massive and bloody engagement.
___________________________________________________________

The Philadelphia Campaign begins

On this day in history, August 25, 1777, the Philadelphia Campaign begins when British General William Howe and his brother, Admiral Richard Howe, land 17,000 troops in an armada of 265 ships at Head of Elk, Maryland. The armada was the largest ever assembled in American waters.

George Washington’s Continental Army tracked Howe’s movements down the eastern seaboard until he lost track of them near the Delaware Capes. Washington camped at Wilmington, Delaware until he could determine where exactly Howe was going. Howe encountered rough weather at sea, taking six weeks to get from Sandy Hook, New Jersey to Maryland’s Elk River at the top of the Chesapeake Bay. Howe’s men were sea sick and his horses dying after running out of forage during the long and rough voyage.

Howe landed just below the town of Elkhorn, Maryland, and began unloading supplies and thousands of soldiers, a monumental task in a shallow and muddy river. Ships got stuck in the mud. Horses were so weak after running out of food that they couldn’t walk. Some of the largest ships couldn’t even make it all the way up river and had to be unloaded further down and their cargos transported by land.

Wilmington sits between Elkton and Philadelphia and Washington himself led frequent reconnoitering missions to determine what the British were doing and what their troop strength was. Howe advanced slowly. He had to wait for his horses to eat and get their strength back. Another huge storm enveloped the area, destroying ammunition for both sides.

Eventually Howe began advancing toward Philadelphia. For weeks, the two armies maneuvered around each other, with frequent skirmishes, but no major battles. Washington finally dug in along the Brandywine Creek near Chadds Ford about 20 miles to the southwest of Philadelphia. The two armies clashed in one of the biggest battles of the Revolution at the Battle of Brandywine on September 11th, a battle that pitted 30,000 soldiers against one another and had almost 2,000 casualties.

The British were the victors at the Battle of Brandywine, the first major battle of the Philadelphia Campaign. The Continental Army was nearly wiped out, and would have been if not for the last minute maneuvers of generals Nathanael Greene and William Alexander, who held off the British until the rest of the army could escape. The American defeat forced Congress to flee Philadelphia in haste and move further inland.

For several more days the two armies maneuvered around one another, but the British were able to march into Philadelphia on September 28th unchallenged. They would continue to occupy the city until June of 1778, when the new commander, Henry Clinton, took over from Howe and abandoned Philadelphia on orders from London. Clinton took the troops back to New York and began the new Southern Campaign to take back the southern states after their attempts in the north had failed.

Great point. And also true: the left thought a Trump mugshot would feel great, but it doesn’t. We all know — even if they’re not yet being honest with themselves about what is obvious — they’re on display as the evil Stalinist villains of the story.

Before, it felt like the mugshot would be the worst thing they could do, the lowest indignity. Now that they’ve done it, there’s almost a sense of excitement, like they’ve taken their best shot and the guy is still standing. The fear is gone, replaced by the thrill of the fight.

Howe was not supposed to be in Philadelphia. He was supposed to be traveling up the Hudson from New York to meet General John Burgoyne near Albany to split the colonies in half and defeat them in detail.

George Sackville Lord Germain, British Minister of War, was supposed to send orders to Howe before he took off for a weekend at the resort town of Bath. He handed the assignment to one of his clerks who apparently never sent the order out. At least that was the story he told at a Parliamentary inquiry.

Burgoyne went south out of Montreal, fighting swamps and thick woods, never realizing that his master plan for defeating the colonists had never gotten to Howe. As a result, Benedict Arnold defeated him at the two battles at Saratoga. Arnold’s battlefield tactics are still studied today in the world’s military academies.

Horatio Gates, who was Arnold’s commander, claimed credit for the victory, and the two letters to Congress, one from Arnold and one from Gates, started the trouble that would eventually lead to Arnold’s changing sides. George Washington, however, wasn’t fooled by Gates’ claims. He asked Arnold to lead his vanguard after Arnold would recover from his wound suffered at the second battle of Saratoga.

The battle at Brandywine was lost because Washington put his defensive line on the northern bank of the river, rather than letting the British cross and then pushing them back into the river. Washington was easily outflanked.

Howe’s victory at Philadelphia led to nothing. When told that Howe had taken Philadelphia, Ben Franklin remarked, “No, Philadelphia has taken Howe.” The British had thought that the capture of the enemy capital would end the colonists’ resistance. They had no idea that America was more than just a capital.

Howe bedded down with Mrs. Loring again. Her husband, Lieutenant Joshua Loring, was Howe’s quartermaster, and was happy with the favors Howe’s liaison with his wife gained him. For one thing, he wasn’t on the battlefront. Philadelphia was kind to the British soldiers, who were loathe to leave their mistress’s beds. The food was good, the drinking was good, and the swiving was tremendous. Philadelphia Loyalists were the kindest of hosts. It was there that Major John Andre, head of British counterintelligence, took Peggy Shippen, the daughter of a prominent Loyalist, as his mistress. He would later push her to marry Benedict Arnold and lead him to his betrayal.

Francis Hopkinson, designer of the first American flag, summed it up brilliantly in his poen, “The Battle of the Kegs.”

Sir William, he, as snug as a flea
Lay all this time a-snoring,
Nor dreamed of harm as he lay warm
In bed with Mrs. Loring.

Excellent commentary, Publius.

I also found out that eight days before the Battle of the Brandywine, the only military battle in Delaware during the Revolution occurred, at Cooch’s Bridge near Newark, DE.

What has been referred to as a minor skirmish was actually a 7 hour battle with the British and Hessian forces. The Americans were forced to retreat and rejoin General Washington’s main force, and the armies met again at the Brandywine on Sept. 11, 1777.

The AMC series “Turn” did a good job of portraying the whole “Shippen/Andre/Arnold” triangle in Philadelphia.

I did not know about General Howe cuckolding his quartermaster, though.

"Turn" was exceptional TV.

It showed Arnold's overweening vanity and need for money. But it also showed his absolute fearlessness. Arnold was not only Washington's best tactical general, but one of the greatest tacticians in Western military history.

Arnold's men followed him with a loyalty that bordered on the fanatical. It was said that his men would have gladly followed him into hell -- because they stood a sporting chance of capturing the Devil and getting out alive.
