Q: How was the moon landing filmed to catch that first step by Neil Armstrong onto the surface of the moon if Buzz Aldrin was still in the spacecraft?
A: By a television camera mounted in an instrument bay to the left of the ladder. Armstrong opened the bay using a simple cord. The camera had 200 lines resolution at 10 frames per second, in black and white only, and built by Westinghouse for this occasion, and a marvel of miniaturisation for its time.
I wonder how the quality of those images stacks up to the ultra HD we have now?
