My son recently took a road trip to Las Vegas (about a five hour drive) - the heat has been brutal in the Southwest with predicted temps of 115+ - and the a/c on his car is faulty.

He checked the airline prices out of LAX and found Spirit airlines tickets for $68/roundtrip - for other airlines it was in the $250. Range.

He said he’d drive and suffer the heat rather than suffer on Spirit airlines even though the flight is only an hour.

The woman said that the stewards would not allow her to use the laboratory for 2 hours. I have the impression that the plane was on the ground with the passengers on it for 2 hours.

Sorry, I think that airlines’ doing this is unconscionable. If they need to repair the plane, they should do it before they let the passengers on. If they find the problem after loading, then let the passengers off until the problem is fixed.

There are lots of reasons not to like Spirit Airlines (flew them once, never will again), but in all fairness I could see this happening on any US carrier. Air travel is barely civilized anymore.
