I know I'm on a World War I jag, but someone said, "those who don't learn from history, are doomed to repeat it".

Mods pull at your discretion.

I used to hang out with a great grandson of Friedrich Ebert. We had a falling out over Trump....I predicted he’d win in 2016. What a rube I am.

In ‘84, I went to visit family in Germany who went through Nazism.

The major thing I heard was “We believed their lies.”

One of my relatives was a Nazi soldier. He said the best day of WWII was when he captured by the Americans and put in a POW camp. He said the Americans treated him better than his Nazi officers and he started to hope America would defeat Hitler.

On that trip I also visited family in Communist countries.

I started to form my political views when I discovered William F. Buckley of Firing Line in middle school. (Listened to him in the beginning because he had a weird accent!)

That trip sealed my views.

Also visited Germany’s Brandenburg Gate a month after the fall of the wall. Spent the day sobbing.... tears of joy!!

Charles Dawes, who drew up the Dawes Plan for Germany's reparations payments, later became Calvin Coolidge's vice president. After his death in 1951, Dawes became a rock star as It's All in the Game, a song that he co-wrote, soared to the top of the charts and then found a permanent berth on Oldies playlists from coast to coast over the next several decades.

Welcome to Weimar America.

Get your wheelbarrow now, while you can still afford one.
