Well, some of the imported rice has all sorts of stuff in it that washing will not remove.

I actually disposed of about 1/2 of a 20 lb. bag of Indian Basmati rice after reading things like that. "Watered by rains from the Himalayan Mountains!" it said on the package. (It also tasted terrible and was very dirty.)

US rice in the south apparently sucks up arsenic. (Not so much CA rice.)

I’ve read that rice grown in TX and I think Arkansas (?) picks up aresenic that is in the soil but CA doesn’t have that kind of soil. I wish I knew where the Costco Indian rice was grown. I’m going to buy Lundberg CA rice from now on.
