Snow White and the Six Average Joes? Disney’s new ‘PC’ characters destroyed on Twitter

Disney seems hellbent on destroying its brand as the entertainment giant moves away from the family-friendly products that made it a trusted household name.
The latest example to support that assertion is a live-action remake of Snow White that features a Hispanic actress playing Snow White and replaces the famous seven dwarves with a diverse cast of “magical creatures,” of which only one is a dwarf. And if that’s not woke enough for you, Prince Charming gets the boot, too.
“Welcome to some of the first images from Disney’s live action remake of Snow White and her DEI Dwarfs. Snow White is played by a Hispanic actress and there’s only one dwarf and 6 full [grown] adults,” tweeted Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk. “Disney says it’s taking the casting of the film in a ‘new direction’ to ‘avoid reinforcing stereotypes.’ Disney has lost $900 million at the box office on recent films, and something tells me that figure is only going to worse. Snow White is set to release in March 2024.”
Snow White will be played by Rachel Zeglar, of Colombian descent — she played Maria in Steven Spielberg’s film adaptation of “West Side Story.” She said the story needed “refreshing.”
“People are making these jokes about ours being the PC Snow White… yeah, it is — because it needed that,” Zeglar said, according to the Daily Mail. “Our version is a refreshing story about a young woman who has a function beyond Someday My Prince Will Come.”
The British newspaper reported that the adaptation “will not feature a Prince Charming and will instead focus on a ‘stronger’ Snow White who dreams of becoming a leader.”
Disney announced that ‘magical creatures’ would replace the seven dwarves to ‘avoid reinforcing stereotypes’ after Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage, who has a common form of dwarfism called achondroplasia, is being linked to the “magical creatures” addition after he criticized the “f**king backwards story” last year.
“I was a little taken aback when they [Disney] were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White, but you’re still telling the story of Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs,” he said on Mark Maron’s WTF podcast. “It makes no sense to me. You’re progressive in one way and you’re still making that f**king backwards story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together, what the f**k are you doing, man? Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soapbox? I guess I’m not loud enough.”
Former GOP congressional candidate Robby Starbuck was not impressed, tweeting: “Meet the cast of Disney’s new woke Snow White film. Snow White is Columbian now and the 7 dwarves look more like the 6 normal sized hipster pedos and 1 dwarf from Portland. Snow White no longer has ‘skin white as snow’. Absolutely ridiculous.”

Take a look at that post. You referenced me in a derogatory way over and over again. Look for the word “you”. It’s there many times. It doesn’t cause me pain to be the target of sarcasm. I’m An old guy, and I’ve been the brunt of much worse.
And I completely understand that you care greatly about this issue! The moral decline of the West really is a big deal.
My only point is that I cannot participate in a conversation where for some reason I’m the target of sarcasm. I don’t talk that way to fellow Freepers, and can not accept it from them.
Perhaps I’m reading all this wrong. If so, my apologies. I’ve read other posts by you, and I appreciate them. But not this time.

Have you read Bruno Bettelheim's book, THE USES OF ENCHANTMENT? Is a very interesting read and I was lucky enough to hear one of his lectures and meet him.
There are many good books about fairy tales, their histories, and the lessons they teach children, written by a couple, whose names escape me at the moment. I'll look at my books and send you the info tomorrow, via FRmail.

Yes, I care GREATLY about this topic, know a great deal about it, as well as the stories, and like to share what I know with others, which IS what I was doing.

The Seven Dwarfs are famously known to be hard workers (there is a Sleepy but no Lazy). That is another characteristic Disney is abandoning with this cast of characters.

Snow White derived her name from having a porcelain complexion, “skin as white as snow.”
What will this character’s name be? Golden Honey?
Nothing wrong with a lovely darker complexion; plenty of pasty white women intentionally tan to get that color.
And what’s with this ragtag group of misfits? Biased against dwarves? Peter Dinklage is not the only capable actor in Hollywood.
At least have some respect for the source material.
