I’ve heard of parents putting something like whiskey in a baby’s bottle to make them sleep. This is a bad idea. But at least one understands what the foolish parent is trying to achieve.
But cocaine? Why on earth would any parent want their child hopped up on coke? If I had to bet, I’d say that the story is false and that the parent knew it was fentanyl and either wanted the baby zonked out, or wanted the baby dead. The story about the “mistake” seems like an attempt at “get out of jail free”.

I live one county over from Nassau......she will not walk away from this.....juvenile or not.
The only thing I can fathom is that the kid may have been teething, and cocaine is a local anaesthetic, so if they were rubbing it on the kids’ gums maybe I could see their motivation. But in the bottle? I can’t see a point.
