Subway, the popular sandwich chain, faced criticism after a sign at one of its Georgia stores appeared to make light of the tragic implosion of the Titan submersible. The Titan submersible, which was descending to the ocean floor to view the wreckage of the Titanic, suffered a catastrophic implosion resulting in the death of all five people onboard. The sign at the Subway restaurant in Rincon, Georgia, read “Our subs don’t implode,” drawing backlash for its insensitivity. Subway has since removed the sign and issued a statement expressing disapproval of the comment.
The Controversial Sign
The sign displayed at the Subway restaurant in Rincon, Georgia, made a statement comparing Subway’s sandwiches to the tragic implosion of the Titan submersible. The submersible was heading towards the Titanic wreckage when it experienced a catastrophic implosion, resulting in the loss of all five individuals onboard. The sign read “Our subs don’t implode,” implying that Subway’s sandwiches are reliable and do not meet a similar fate.
Subway’s Response
Subway responded to the controversy by stating that they have been in contact with the franchise regarding the matter. They made it clear that such comments have no place in their business and expressed their disapproval of the sign. Subway confirmed that the sign has been removed.
Social Media Backlash

That's true.
And it's a damning indictment of this forum.
Or, at least, some of the people on it.
Your grandparents, if not your parents, would have found this in poor taste and an exploitative gimmick to sell crummy food. Who’s to say they would have been wrong?
Your arrogance and ignorance are noted.
That right there
is funny.
ROFL!
I remember when Challenger blew up.
“What does NASA stand for? Need Another Seven Astronauts.”
That’s just so wrong...LOL!
A local Trader Joe’s grocery store had, for quite a few years, a sign in its ice cream aisle with the words “Value isn’t taught in Sundae School” and a picture of an ice cream cone with a face on it. It seemed to me to be a snarky little jab at Christians. Only recently was it removed and replaced with a “Chill Out” sign that was more neutral.
No argument?
I guess grandma and grandpa would have been right.
You have no idea what you're talking about, you're wrong, but what the heck? If you're going for some sort of morbid humor, at least try to be funny.
I kind of liked it.
Surely better than a tranny standing there asking if you want mayo on your sub.
Seriously, who gives a crap? Who takes time out of their day to say stuff like this on socialist media? "Do better"? Really? Was this from a middle school girl? The sign was kind of funny and creative - Lord knows you have to be a little out there to make a Subway sammie interesting. I thought it was a good try. And Subway isn't THAT bad - if you're careful. Their Spicy Italian on fresh herb & cheese bread with basic toppings is pretty good. Used to be a decent, fast, cheap meal, rapidly becoming overpriced for what you get. I read that they are going to start slicing the meat to order, so it will no longer be fast and the price will likely go up again - which is not what Subway customers are looking for.
Whenever I hear that, I reach for my flamethrower.
Their subs or the sign?
Well it’s not like their subs are full and exploding with filling either..
I thought that was just a funny meme...I LOL’d....
NEVER too soon when you’re talking Submariners...
Yes.
