Idiots, the world is full of them.
His “defense” is that he didn’t know the Coliseum was so old. speechless.
LOL- Yeah sure he didn’t-
Yep sounds like your typical Leg-Before-Wicket English person.
Ivan Dumbass…..
He dresses in pastel blue? He deserves being extradited to Italy just for that.
Vandalism, extradite him, and let him face Italian justice.
Erase the carving and restore it if possible. Charge him for any costs. It’s not like the Coliseum is in pristine shape exactly. A good chunk of it is missing and the interior looks like the ruin it is. The sad thing is stuff like this leads security and sightseers being kept at a distance. That’s what happened after Michelangelo’s Pieta suffered a hammer attack by a loon.
Throw him to the lions!
Boy Howdy! I guess being stupid is, at least in his pea brain an excuse for permanently defacing an ancient irreplaceable monument.
It also says a lot about the the British education system. I guess they have devolved down to our level.
I think a fine that he could never repay, collectable in monthly instalments until his death and a permanent sign over his ‘signature’ telling the world that,
“Ivan Dimitrov , a British citizen did this in 2023”
just might be an appropriate punishment.
> “It is with deep embarrassment that only after what regrettably happened did I learn of the antiquity of the monument.”
But he was OK with doing it to some other property. This is a person begging to be made an example - throw the book at him to help others say “I wouldn’t do that if I were you”.
“It didn’t look a day over 1900 years old!”
The girlfriend has nice fashion sense and color coordination.
The jackass looks pretty proud of himself in the picture.
While I realize that many people in the Selfie Generation are woefully uneducated, I find it hard to believe that he didn’t know the age of the Colosseum, or at least that it is considered ancient.
He’s TOO STUPID to TRAVEL!!
I have been to several of the Greek archeological sites. There are names scrawled in everywhere from sailors, soldiers, tourists, the workers, travelers, and who knows who else from the time they were built. His name isn’t the first, and it won’t be the last. In 1000 years archeologists will look at his scribbles and wonder who Ivan Dimitrov was.
Considering what the Colosseum was used for I find it difficult to get particularly concerned about this.
If he had painted "Black Lives Matter" on the wall, he'd be declared a hero.
He should be locked up for stupidity
