I don’t see the scam part. You know up front you should pay for a service. You don’t expect them to deliver it for free, do you?
No delivery in this rural town I live near
“That’s a nice tip for such a lousy car and attitude.”
Used to be the case in our house too until I convinced my wife to make it Italian night. Last Friday was calzones.
I delivered for Dominos when between normal jobs 30 years ago. Minimum wage plus an insulting amount per delivery. Poor folks in the projects tipped little or not at all. Rich folks were generally stingy, despite being farther away. Hi refused to deliver late to Springdale Ave late, ‘cause of gang activity. Middle class folks were the most generous.
In my opinion, folks tipping should consider the size if the order, their distance from the shop, the efficiency of the driver and the hotness of the food, and weather conditions outside. I just remember delivery a large order to a fancy house six miles away from the on the top of Diamond Hill Road in treacherous heavy snow conditions. I got something like $1 for three large pizzas. I thanked them, but I would have tipped more. This was Meriden, CT.
The problem with reporting such a person is that they’re already aggressive, and they know where you live. If you live alone, it’s something you have to keep in mind.
“Door Dash drivers only earnings is the tip. I agree the DD driver should not be rude but instead make a note to not deliver to the same address again.”
——————
That’s simply not true. My son worked for DD recently, and I went with him a couple of times to drive, while he got and delivered the food. Each job had both a pay element and a tip (well, except for the cheapos - always women, btw - who gave no tip).
Under the circumstances revealed, I would only say that the delivery man was out of line and deserved no tip at all. I would ask for the $5.00 back and tell him that the reason for my asking was his comment about my house. He is paid to deliver Pizza not to state that (”home values should control the amount of the tip.”)
Fire his sorry ass!
I bet the guy wasn’t able to comprehend he was overtipped for what he delivered.
I’d like to know why people are so lazy that they can’t get dressed and go the restaurant and pick up their own food?
id tell him to hand the tip back acting like I’m giving him a bigger bill, then I would turn and slam the door in his face with no tip...
I’m a good tipper...
25% is a very good tip...
The brat of a delivery driver would have gotten a SCREW YOU from me, a complaint to the delivery service, and I would demand that the driver be terminated.
“I’m a very high tipper. I worked as a waitress in college.”
Ditto. If service is acceptable. If it sucks, then 15%. And you have to be able to distinguish between whether the problem is, in fact, the server’s or maybe the cook’s.
That's why I go pick up the food myself whenever I'm ordering takeout. I can't afford to give the tips I feel I should give.
I also like picking up my own orders because if the order is wrong, I can get it fixed on the spot.
I go and pick it up myself. Don’t want some malcontent handling my food where nobody is watching.
Doordash pays you to deliver. Usually not much, but each job pays.
Tips are on top of the pay.
I have delivered for them before.
Sorry, I should have been clearer. Drivers do get paid beside tip money.
I used to deliver pizza some years ago.
Don’t tip the pizza delivery guy based on the total, tip them based on how far they had to drive to deliver. They will appreciate it.
Also, working on Thanksgiving and Christmas was was lit. The tips form all the people who feel bad that they’re making you work were very generous.
1. I would apologize
2. offer him a $50 in exchange for the money I paid him.
3. When he returned the money , I’d hand him the pizza and tell’m to bugger off
4. call the pizza delivery establishment and inform them of what happened and that it’ll be on the internet in 5 minutes
5. Congratulate the business on their impending closur.
