Today we celebrate the 13 original states seceding from the Union and forming a confederacy. (Articles of Confederation.)
Tyrant? Yes Jeff Davis was a tyrant.
BTW, I LOVE spinning you Rebs up.
Bunch of losers, all of you Lost Causers.
Your side LOST THE WAR!!
And now you live in The United States Of America, not THE CONFEDERATE STATES Of AMERICA.
If that doesn’t suit you Reb, pick a better country.
Yes there is. Three states even said so when they ratified the constitution. People trying to pretend the constitution forbids secession are just lying to themselves.
The Declaration of Independence was NOT a declaration to continue the right to own human beings...
No more than it was in 1776 when *ALL STATES* continued having the right to own human beings.
Apparently the Declaration articulates a right that even slave owning states can exercise.
or take up arms against a DULY ELECTED form of government.
They *VOTED* their way *OUT* of that corrupt government which had them paying 72% of the taxes.
I've been down this road with you a hundred times, you Asperbergers ridden boob and yet you cling to YOUR version of history.
I articulate the *REAL*, *ACCURATE* version of history that can be proven by evidence rather than just being the lying propaganda of a corrupt government trying to justify the murder it committed in order to keep millions of dollars in unearned money.
The South sought to preserve slavery as it's means of an economy ...
So did the United States, and that is why the *CONGRESS* passed the PERMANENT SLAVERY AMENDMENT to the US Constitution. The United States government *WANTED* to "preserve slavery" so that they could *KEEP COLLECTING THE MASSIVE AMOUNT OF MONEY THEY WERE GETTING FROM SLAVERY!!!*
You don't like me calling out the fact that your "slavery" argument is just a coverup for the US government's own complicity in keeping the slave money flowing to *THEM* and their corrupt corporate associates.
They threw a fit when the slave money got cut off, and *THAT* is why they launched a war. It had nothing to do with right or wrong or morality or concern for black people, these rotten, vile, corrupt people running the government only wanted that *SLAVE MONEY* to keep coming into *THEIR* pockets!!!!
You have been lied to and misled, and now you are trying to keep the lie going. You don't want to believe the ugly truth because it makes your ancestors accomplices to a horrible thing.
It just pisses you off to end because your precious CSA lost the war it started and you're steamed because your version of history is wrong.
Not my CSA. Family didn't get her till after 1900, and they didn't settle in any of the Confederate states. My Grandfather is from Denmark, and we didn't have a dog in this fight.
That's why we can see the truth. We don't have to defend our ancestors because *THEY* didn't invade their brothers homes and kill them.
You on the other hand have mentioned quite often that your family was heavily involved in slapping the chains of subjugation on a people who didn't want corrupt Washington DC ruling them.
And the more I see of corrupt Washington DC ruling us today, the more I think the Confederates did the right thing.
The former CSA is now, mostly, the red states; and for the most part the blue states that fought in 1861 to overthrow the original Constitution are still blue states.
I live in a red state; I think I'll stay. You live, deservedly, in a blue state.
I don't know that as a fact. You may very well have slipped into a red state to live; there could be a smart side of you we have not seen.
“. . . The Declaration of Independence was NOT a declaration to continue the right to own human beings or take up arms against a DULY ELECTED form of government.”
So you call it the “Declaration of Equity?”
Congratulations! Your ESC and DEI scores are pegging the needle.
I hope you run over a plastic soda straw next week on campus and that it rips the guts out of your little clown car.
Nice try at confusion dopey. No, the Declaration of Independence was not a document that gave the southern states the right to own slaves.
So while you and your Confederate clowns would like to think that it does, Sorry Charlie but you missed wide of the mark.
Boy, you Democrats really are dumb.
And get this through your head Reb, I'm a conservative and not a Democrat in conservative clothing such as yourself. You Lost Causers ,trying to make a dollar outta fifteen cents. You lost. Your precious Confederacy lost. Own it Reb.
Southern states? Is that all you know about slavery?
It is time to take you to school.
After the DOI was signed the slave states were: Virginia, North and South Carolina, Georgia, New York, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island.
Seems like there was one more. Oh yes, New Jersey.
New Jersey was a slave state.
And later New Jersey joined with the other states to unanimously enshrine slavery into the United States Constitution.
New Jersey voted for slavery.
Not necessarily because New Jersey liked slavery. Probably the only reason New Jersey voted to enshrine slavery into the United States Constitution was because the state's leadership determined it was in their own economic and political best self interest.
And now you know.
No, that was the common law of the United States *AND* the US Constitution that gave the people the right to own slaves. The US constitution even *REQUIRED* that escaped slaves be returned.
You are just bitching because the CSA constitution *ALSO* gave people the right to own slaves.
I think the bible says something about not worrying about the mote in your brothers eye until you've removed the beam in your own.
Well of course it does. It does not prohibit it, and by being silent, it affirms the Declaration of Independence position on the matter.
Beyond that, the 10th amendment grants states the power to leave.
A government isn't a corporation whose existence is limited by a fixed period of time and doesn’t provide a means for it's own dissolution.
No, the British government didn't believe in a right to independence. *OUR* government was supposedly founded on the belief that people had a right to independence.
There is no mention of slavery in the Declaration of Independence.
There is, albeit indirectly. In response to Lord Dunmore's proclamation that he would grant freedom to any slaves that would turn against their masters, the Declaration says:
He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us...
Which is specifically referring to their efforts to incite a slave rebellion.
It was struck out in compliance with South Carolina and Georgia who never attempted to restrain the importation of slaves. So I guess, by all accounts you're pro slavery, ain't ya Reb?
I am pro-follow-the-law until it is lawfully changed. You don't want slavery? Vote it out!
Did you ever try that? No, you didn't. As a matter of fact, your people *VOTED TO KEEP IT FOREVER*.
The Corwin Amendment (led by Republican Thomas Corwin and Republican William Seward) was passed by a 2/3rds majority through a Republican controlled house and Senate.
So spare me the pretend concern about the slaves. Your people were all in favor of keeping them in bondage so long as they could keep milking the southern states for their money.
But get this straight: I don't know who you mean by ‘’you people’’ but I have NEVER been in favor in keeping anyone a slave.
That's YOU because you have made it clear in you last post YOU are a slaver. You said the South was *RIGHT’’ so watch who you're calling about keeping someone enslaved. Mr. Confederate sympathizer.
Slavery ended in NJ in 1809. So who do you think you’re schooling Reb?
The Southern states fought a war to preserve it.
So now YOU know.
And your side STILL LOST! Now didn’t it?
Take ME to school?
That’ll be a the day a democrat like you EVER does that, loser.
And answer this question Mr Know It All, you know, the question you keep avoiding, the one all you Lost Causers keep avoiding:
If the South had won the war would it have freed the slaves?
And there is NO mention of slavery in the DOI. So now you know.
There is no *FORBIDDING* of secession in the Constitution.
The *RIGHT* is articulated in the Declaration.
But get this straight: I don't know who you mean by ‘’you people’’ but I have NEVER been in favor in keeping anyone a slave.
March of 1861 Republicans. The forces of *UNION*. That's what I mean by "you people."
That's YOU because you have made it clear in you last post YOU are a slaver.
You read what you want to believe, not what is written. Being pro-law and pro-constitutional-amendment-process is not pro-slavery.
What's a matter with you? What kind of loon do you have to be to think anyone in this day and age is pro-slavery? You've got a serious case of delusion to even take the idea seriously.
You said the South was *RIGHT’’ so watch who you're calling about keeping someone enslaved.
They were *RIGHT* to leave, because they had a *RIGHT* to do so.
And that *RIGHT* to leave has not a d@mn thing to do with slavery. *YOU* keep trying to make it about slavery, because you aren't honest enough to debate the *REAL* issue.
Everyone that tries to make it about slavery is just a liar trying to lie their way out of the bloodshed they committed over a fake, made up "concern" for slaves.
They didn't give a sh*t about the slaves because they *VOTED* to keep them in slavery forever.
Again, spare me the fake concern for slavery. Your side was for permanent slavery before they were against it.
Did it? Let's see if you are correct, or if you are just misinformed.
Just as I thought, you don't even know the truth about slavery in your own state. New Jersey had slaves right up to the Civil War.
"In 1830, of the 3,568 Northern blacks who remained slaves, more than two-thirds were in New Jersey. The institution was rapidly declining in the 1830s, but not until 1846 was slavery permanently abolished. At the start of the Civil War, New Jersey citizens owned 18 "apprentices for life" (the federal census listed them as "slaves") -- legal slaves by any name."
Had there never been a war, would the North have kept their slaves?
Already explained this to you. The section that says:
"He has incited domestic insurrections amongst us...
Is about slaves.
Again spare me your revisionist history. I’m not engaging in faux concern for slavery, that’s a new low even for you. It was evil and a stain on the founding of this nation, the North at least came to terms with it’s share in it and ended it. The South didn’t. You support the Confederacy, so you’re pro slavery , own it.
Slavery WAS the issue no matter how you ans=d the rest of your pro slavery democrats here want to argue against. The Fire Eaters and secessionist framed in The Confederate Constitution. You really are a pathetic case, carrying the torch for a loser bunch of Southern treasonous bastards who were directly responsible for the deaths of 600, 000 Americans.
Keep spinning you moron, it doesn’t change history. The South fought to preserve slavery and lost.
