Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Wednesday refused to pledge his support to whoever becomes the Democratic nominee in the event he fails to secure the nomination.
Asked by Elizabeth Vargas in a town hall hosted by NewsNation whether he will “pledge to support whoever the Democratic nominee is,” Kennedy responded, “Oh, of course I’m not gonna do that.”

A wiser man than I once said:
“The common and continual mischiefs of the spirit of party are sufficient to make it the interest and duty of a wise people to discourage and restrain it.”
Pledges of party fealty are a trap, and a distraction.
If someone said "we have to stick by Lindsey Graham or Liz Cheney because they belong to the Republican party", they're either a fool or on the take. Both have demonstrated they don't care a whit for the best interests of the people.
Same goes for a Biden, Clinton, or Obama.
At best, a "party" represents a set of guiding principles. But neither party truly follows them--instead its used as a way to lure people into cheering for their "team", while in the smokey backrooms, both "parties" make deals to enrich themselves.
I may not agree with RFKjr on some (maybe more) of his stances, but he seems to be a damn sight better than what we have now. And why in his right mind would he make a pledge, knowing full well the skullduggery his own "party" will do with superdelegates if it even looks like he is getting near the Uniparty apple cart.
I wonder if his remark is a suggestion that he might risk a third-party bid.
If a Kennedy would do that, I think he might undo a lot of damage already done by Teddy and other Kennedys.
RFK Jr. is quickly becoming Trump 2.0 in the eyes of democrats and their deep-state masters
He should have asked if he would get a house like Bernie for a pledge to support the nominee. He knows what the Dems will do if he’s beating Plugs so how would a pledge help him?
Both corrupt political parties are crumbling.
Very well said!
IMHO, is a way to neuter a "non preferred" candidate who may say "wait a second, whats with this (enter shady dealings here)", before the public sees what is going on.
Then party operatives come back and smugly say "too late, preferred candidate X is is all you've got, unless you want that OTHER party to 'win'".
In the years between Reagan and Trump, to me it seemed to be more and more of being offered a choice between column 'A' or column 'B' off of the same damn menu. No matter which you picked, you were served the same crap.
That is evident based on RFK Jr's Wikipedia article.
That Wikipedia entry is one of the most venomous, biased, and disparging articles that has ever been written on a public figure.
They are clearly trying to label him as a dangerous, mentally unstable, conspiracy nut.
Wise move by Kennedy. It puts him is the running to be named as Trump’s running mate.
In a Biden-Trump-RFK scenario (or Trump-RFK-Newsom scenario)...the Electoral College would fail to reach it’s normal conclusion. I would suggest at best, Biden or Newsome would only be able to win fifteen states...Trump probably in the range of twenty states.
The House would be given the ‘pleasure’ in January to vote state by state. I don’t think you’d reach a true end point, and whoever is House-Speaker would probably get a temp-situation for at least two weeks....maybe longer to serve as President.
If he does that, I’ll donate and recommend the same to everyone I know
Thanks. I'll have a look, out of morbid curiosity. Wikipedia just gets worse and worse.
I will read it if I am looking for a general description of some distant historical event, or description of an arcane scientific concept.
But for recent political events, its complete trash.
I guess we know what that means - he ain’t really Black😎😁😉
The letter after the name means jack anymore.
The only reason political parties still exist is to give voters the illusion of choice.
A pol is either loyal to our former republic or to Deep State.
I have yet to hear Kennedy disavow Deep State.
Good, I hate this “you can’t attend one of our phony biased debates” unless you declare fealty to a political party.
Hell with them.
RFK should probably announce publicly that he’s not suicidal and the brakes in his vehicle are in working order. I would fear for any individual running against the deep state. They’re not even trying to hide their authoritarianism anymore.
Elizabeth Vargas would not shut up so he could explain himself.
As far back as 20 years, professors/teachers were adamant against citing Wikipedia for good reason. I thought it was a neat idea when first concieved, but once those with agendas got involved, it became trash. As an aside, you may have been here long enough to remember the handle 'Eschoir'. He was one playing games with Wikipedia regarding the Free Republic entry.
“I’ve never understood the whole pledge thing.”
After demanding oaths of fealty from Trump to support the nominee by the RINOs, Trump became president and the backstabbers in the Republican party tried to prove how disloyal they were to Trump the whole time.
