BOSTON (NewsNation) — The Horizon Arctic’s ROV discovered a “debris field” on the sea floor near the Titanic wreckage during a search effort Thursday morning, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
The government agency said experts within the unified command were analyzing the information, but the debris has not yet been identified.
A Coast Guard presser has been scheduled for 3 p.m. ET to discuss the findings.

Would an extra compartment actually help? With the Titanic, what was it, one or two compartments could withstand flooding — unfortunately the iceberg grazed the side of the ship, breaching several compartments.
Here you’d need a door to withstand the great pressure of being 2+ miles deep, no?
And from what I’ve heard and read, arrogant as well.
I think it had a catastrophic hull failure and it was over in a second.
They certainly seem to have known exactly where to look. It takes time to move this CG vessel, and then they were able to immediately go right to the spot and find it.
Yes it was a single carbon fiber tube, no other rooms. Essentially like being in a 4 foot culvert.....................
Memories of Thresher
The Thresher incident came up on a news show the other day, a US Navy sub expert related details about it......apparently when the debris was found, the propeller was wedged inside the bow of the sub......crushed like an empty aluminum can.
They lived long enough to get an SOS out.
I guess we’ll find out at 3pm.
“Can’t decide if I’d rather have gone down with the Titanic or been crushed to death on the Titan. Probably the later since at least be sudden and quick.”
The terror of being on a sinking ocean liner in freezing water would have to be the most painful death to experience. The later would be preferable since it is, as you stated, sudden and quick. Too quick to give one time to feel terror.
That said, the people that had to jump to their death on 9/11 would also be a horrible way to die, since those people felt the terror before they made the decision to either burn to death or to jump. I can’t even imagine the horror they endured.
Ticket cost for the Titan were much higher.
There is some question whether they were describing a NEW debris field or if they were describing THE debris field from the titanic. Journalism sucks these days and people have a hard time communicating accurately.
Hopefully a “reporter” asks for clarification at 3pm.

shows new composite images of the Titanic. Bow is to our left in the image. Stern is missing and some distance away from this site.
When they first announced finding a “debris field”, I was thinking that it was debris floating on the surface. Now I realize it’s a debris field on the ocean’s bottom. Could be from Titanic, could be from Titan.
I guess we’ll have to wait until they tell us…
Exactly, burn alive slowly or jump to your death with seconds to think about it.
Buck Dharma is a great guitarist. BOC is on the rotation on my car mp3 player.
Very sad.
That’s the way to go, isn’t it?
“Exactly, burn alive slowly or jump to your death with seconds to think about it.”
So the best way to die is peacefully, in your sleep. No trauma, no terror....just slumber. May we all be blessed enough to pass in that manner when the time comes.
