Tucker Carlson — who was booted from Fox News in April — has made a serious pile of cash practicing what I like to call the conventional wisdom of the counterintuitive take. His worldview can be whittled down to this: everything you ever heard is wrong. And I mean everything. (He still believes the English alphabet has 26 letters but give him time.)
Last night, he began the Twitter phase of his lucrative career. Carlson was broadcasting from an undisclosed man cave of a studio — complete with unfinished wood and fishing rods that clashed with his preppy tie and blue blazer attire. It made him look like the country club money man wandering into a meeting of the Secret Society of Maladjusted Lunkheads who all loom right off-camera.
He then provided his rote 10-minute grocery list of Greenwald-meets-Greene grievances. It’s not clear if the speech was preplanned or tied to the news of the destruction of the Kakhovka dam on the Dnieper River, but Carlson used the catastrophe as his gleeful jumping off point. It was less than 24 hours since the incident and Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelenskyy denounced the act as Russian terrorism.
Anyone who has ever watched Tucker knew where this was going. Carlson argued that it was likely — surprise! — a Ukraine terrorist operation. He said the largely held worldview that Zelenskyy was a courageous defender of his homeland was completely incorrect. Instead he is a “sweaty and rat-like comedian turn oligarch, a persecutor of Christians.” Not nice! Notice the drive-by quality of the “persecutor of Christians,” which is a classic Carlson fact-free zone created by, uh, Tucker Carlson.
Carlson’s long-honed strategy is to call bullshit on his enemies — in this case Bill Kristol and Sen. Lindsey Graham — for sculpting the conventional view that the dam explosion was a Putin operation. He then provides his own bullshit report from the upside-down world. His theory for Zelenskyy being responsible is that Putin isn’t dumb enough to do this and you’d know this if you, dear watcher, weren’t bought and brainwashed by corporate media. Carlson offered the Nord Stream pipeline explosion as precedent for Zelenskyy blowing things up. The small problem is it has not been proven that Zelenskyy or Ukraine destroyed Nord Stream.
From there it was the worst cover version of Leonard Cohen’s “Everybody Knows.” Everybody knows 9/11 didn’t go down as you believe, everyone knows Oswald didn’t mow down JFK, everyone knows some “skinny dude in a dress is a girl.”
It all built up to a Carlson crescendo. The biggest news of yesterday isn’t climate crisis, transgender wars or Ukraine. No, it is the discovery that the Pentagon has UFO aircraft and the alien bodies of UFO pilots in their possession. “We know in a normal country, this news would qualify as a bombshell the story of the millennium, but in our country, it doesn’t,” said Carlson in his faux sad voice.
Here’s the thing. A mid-level bureaucrat claiming the Pentagon has aircraft and bodies stashed away is a well-versed song by UFO guys for over 30 years. If you have seven hours to kill, I wrote about it in 2020. The thing is the story is always a “heard it from a friend who heard from a friend” account. No one has firsthand evidence and to believe this is to believe that the notoriously leaky Pentagon has been able to keep this a secret for my entire lifetime. Think of it as the “Seinfeld” episode in which Jerry demands Kramer to actually “show me the levels” he could build in his apartment.
Carlson wrapped up by proclaiming our country is filled with well-meaning folks “manipulated by lies, silenced by taboos. It is unhealthy and it’s dehumanizing, and we’re tired of it. As of today, we’ve come to Twitter which we hope will be the shortwave radio under the blankets.”
And that’s Tucker on Twitter’s central problem, well, besides the lies. His act works best when it is accompanied by the graphics and bombast of an actual network news program. Carlson’s followers on Twitter praised Tucker’s return, but some said it was real bummer to have the family gather around the iPhone in order to watch. Demagogues work best on the big screen or in torch-lit stadiums.
Poor Tucker. He was big and then the picture got small.
The author wishes he could get 1/1000 of Tucker’s audience. Last I saw over 100 million people watched Tucker on Twitter. I can tell the author is a shill. He accuses Tucker of lying when Tucker’s message is to question the lies being spread by the media and government. This author probably got the most views he’s ever had because he wrote about Tucker. He doesn’t amount to a pimple on Tucker’s ass.
That is how revolutions always work. First the revolutionaries annihilate their enemies. Then they annihilate their perceived traitors. Then they annihilate their useful idiots. Finally, they annihilate themselves. One person rises out of the ashes, and establishes tyranny to replace the anarchy, and the tyranny is worse than anything that happened before the revolution (examples include Napoleon and Stalin).
P.S. What we call the American Revolution wasn't a revolution but a reformation, a call for a return to first principles, as with Germany in 1517 or Hungary in 1956.
It was a cutesy way of accusing Carlson of being a tinfoil flat-earthist type.
I saw yesterday that Carlson’s video surpassed 100 million views.
everyone knows some “skinny dude in a dress is a girl.”
Is that misgendering?
Big Brother don’t like that.
On Fox, Tucker got 3 million views.
His Twitter rant got over 100 million views!
Who is now small?
It tells me that reading an offering by this guy Rodrick is the mental equivalent of stepping in a pile of rotting dogsqueezins.
Didn’t Carlson get close to 100 million views? These journalists writing lies about how Carlson is speaking to a “smaller audience” should be heckled mercilessly for their dishonesty.
They only WISH that they had that big of a following…
Yeah Tucker must be an irrelevant nobody that’s why his video got 100 million views.
He would have been better off to have AI write his article. His writing ability is laughable.
you do not have to join to watch the video
100 million + views on Twitter. Tucker used to get 3.5 million on Fox. Game, set, match.
Fox now suing Tucker to prevent him from using Twitter.
And no one ever heard of …
Who? Not even worthy to repeat the screed author’s name. And did not make it through the excerpt. Here only to say to him, Jealousy isn’t a good color for you to wear.
Or the Hungarian alphabet which has 44 characters.
Mark Dice who is a fan of Tucker explained yesterday that in reality Tucker had gotten a little more than 5 million actual views as of yesterday. It is probably considerably higher than that this morning. Dice’s explanation of how this works starts at about 1:35 in the video. And then he goes on to show hilarious examples of the leftist meltdown currently going on.
The 103 million view number currently showing on Twitter is actually “impressions” not views in any normal sense of the word. Anyone who scrolls past Carlson's video on their “Twitter feed” is counted as a view. It is not the same, but a little like other webpages that start playing videos automatically when open them... you often need to close the page or turn off the sound on your computer because it is hard find where the video that is making the noise is even at.
If you recall Elon himself sued Twitter because the number of people actually using Twitter was massively inflated by counting “bot” accounts. This practice continues on both Facebook and Twitter.
It hardly matters. Although Tucker had a larger audience than any other nightly news commentator it was still only around 3 million on FOX and 5 million means that he has found a larger audience on Twitter which is surprising. Twitter normally allows videos only up to around 10 minutes which does not fit Carlson's normal format.
And we have not really found out what became of the writers and others that worked on Carlson's show on FOX. Tucker is great and no doubt came up with a lot of content on his own, but he had a supporting staff. What happened to them?
So then this is similar to the metric that cable television companies use, which is "homes passed."
Instead of counting actual subscribers, they tout the number of homes who have access to their service and could in theory connect to their system.
Still, can't sneeze at 102.7 (which as of this writing is now up to 103.7 million) impressions.
The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil Constitution.
From your home page you may want to reread it.
And maybe Tucker would have been better off using AI to write his latest monolog. I just asked in post 55, what happened to Carlsons staff including his writers. People forget that his show was a collaborative effort.
I enjoyed his piece, but Tucker's effort here was not his best, especially when he went off subject on his extraterrestrial rant. We have been hearing the ET type of thing for close to 80 years along with countless movies and TV shows but nothing ever really comes from it. My best guess was that this was meant to draw in additional future audiences. Approximately 65% of Americans believe in extraterrestrials.

It probably makes sense to pander to this segment of the population.
note the boi dint post any numbers... he beat FOX AND CNN
It is the definition of viral. And yes, by Mark Dice’s numbers which are derived from the information from Twitter's statistical “back end”. Actual views are approximately 15% of “impressions”. That still comes to 15 million as of this morning. That is a massive number of people... 5 times more than his normal viewership on FOX.
FOX is already threatening to sue, and I am sure that they will. Their ship is sinking from self-inflicted wounds, and they know it
