Ukraine's offensive has been ongoing since Sunday. It hasn't gone well.

This offensive is being executed just as the Khereson/Kharkiv offensive. Starting out as small probing attacks to discern opportunities for advancement. During this time I remember well pro-war people saying the offensive was failing and Ukraine was having massive casualties. Turned out that was not the case. You would think they would have learned.
Stay tuned.

I think it’s still early.
However it hinges on losses. The offensive side has to expose themselves and can take high casualties. For example I’ve read Ukr has already lost about 50 tanks, a few hundred APVs, 5K-10K troops lost, and maybe 10 aircraft.
Likely if true the offensive is going to fizzle out like we’ve been seeing, more or less. If that’s exaggerated Russ propaganda then stay tuned because a big breakthrough could still happen.

I watched video of a Ukrainian column of armored vehicles getting destroyed by Russian artillery fire. They are calling these attacks probes but some of them are much larger then a probe. There was also a story of a Ukrainian unit that refused to advance because of heavy losses. I will wait for more information to come out before I believe it. There doesn't seem to be much cover for the Ukrainians to hide behind during the attack. There are small strips of trees and open fields. This might be a reason they tried so hard to hold Bakhmut. Driving across open fields is a good way to get killed in this war.
