The thing is I knew he had an accountant brain when I married him 56 years ago and it didn't stop me. We just never had any money back then to own anything new. Vietnam came and he sold his nice car and bought a $100.00 car that had been hit on the drivers side. We bought a TV when stationed in Ga. for I believe $20.00 that we had to use a broom handle stretched out to hold the button to make it stop flipping. So we never encountered anything new to put together. Crazy to want the old stuff that never had to be assembled. AND to think we were so happy struggling together. Life back then had Vietnam but the simple things weren't crazy. Am I making any sense?lol

Ha ha, I know what you mean.

we had used things also, married 58 years this year.

We were in GA also, Fort Benning, we had a small trailer in Columbus GA. When you sat on the toilet your knees were under the sink.

Used to run up to Atlanta on the weekend with another couple, hubby met him in basic. Fun couple.
Used to share a room there as we couldn’t afford one each.

When hubby got to Nam he tried to contact his friend, he went over sooner than hubby. Hubby got reply that friend was killed on Hamburger Hill.
Then they gave the Hill back.
Good times and bad times.
You and hubby might have been there the same time we were.
Tell hubby thank you for his service.

When hubby and I married on 07/02/1983, we had Nothing!
When we used to grill steaks, we put the charcoal in an old tire rim and cooked them on there.
(Yes, we had an old oven rack to set them on!)

We would buy small cuts of Delmonico Steaks, and they were delicious! (back then, the butcher would cut it howevr you wanted it. I asked him to cut one steak in half, so we could afford it on payday.)

We did not have much, but we were happy, and we STILL are!)
**Lovesick heart emojii*
