A top-ranked Canadian waterskier who attended the University of Louisiana-Layfayette “suddenly” died at 18 years old on May 6, the university announced.
Freshman Micky Geller studied kinesiology and marketing while he was on a full-ride waterskiing scholarship with the national champion Ragin Cajuns.
While Geller’s cause of death was not revealed, Water Ski Canada said the standout athlete “died suddenly.”
“It is with great sadness that the University will lower the University flag to half-staff in memory of Michael Arthur ‘Micky’ Geller on Thursday, May 18,” the university said in a statement on Facebook. “His friends and family remain in the thoughts, hearts and prayers of many at the University.”
Geller, a native of Carp, Ontario, was 4 years old when he started waterskiing.
He was later a member of Canada’s junior national water ski team, competing at the IWWF World Championships, the Jr. US Masters Water Ski Tournament, and the Pan American Championships in 2022.

The math is simple.
The number of people who died from the vaxx = X
The number of people who took the vaxx = Y
X/Y is a very small number—probably less than one tenth of one percent.
That is plenty to get manufacturers sued out of business, their executives thrown in jail and the product taken off the market.
But—it remains a small number.
“I’m surprised at how there is such a thing as a full-ride waterskiing scholarship in the first place.”
The only thing that is surprising to me is that they would support a sport that requires a motor vehicle. They must use electric boats to tow these guys.
A lot of that going around lately.
An unattended unexpected warrants an autopsy.
If one isn’t done, or the results are slow-walked...
Bet it’s vaxx related.
“They must use electric boats to tow these guys.”
If it feels good, float it! /s
Ah, apologies. I misinterpreted your “...it was a small percentage who took them”. I think if you add in all the hospital deaths that weren’t based on the jabs, we’re above a tenth of a percentage of the population.
But of perhaps 200 million getting the jabs, there may be upwards of 1% with injury/disability.
Either way, we’re on the same page.
Unless there is obvious suicide evidence, at least, I suppose.
Thanks. That answered that question.
Although an avid slalom skier and barefooter, at 67 years old I might add, I am also surprised scholarships are offered in the sport. The reason for my surprise is the cost required to participate in the sport at a high level.
A new tournament inboard such as a Mastercraft ProStar or Malibu TXI will now set you back over $120,000. Also, you are going to pay something between $1,800 dollars to $2,500 for a high-end slolam ski. Lastly, if you are a three event skier (jumping, slalom, and tricks) you’ll probably have to invest somewhere in the neighborhood of $4,000 to $5,000 in equipment to compete in all three of those events.
Given the cost of the boats, the equipment and the fuel, there’s no way the sport begins to pay for itself. I haven’t researched it but there has to be a lot of money coming from corporate sponsors such as boat and water ski manufacturers to justify running a program. There just isn’t that much fan interest and only a tiny fraction of the people that would show up for even a women’s basketball game attend water ski tournaments.
In closing, I am blown away by the cost of new tournament inboards. I don’t know of any vehicle, whether it operates on land, air or sea, that has experienced such cost inflation over the last 35 years. I bought my first tournament inboard in 1987, a brand new and very beautiful Malibu Skier which cost me a grand total of $15,123 off the showroom floor. 4 years later I bought a brand new Malibu Euro f3, which replaced the Skier, for $22,210. That means during the last 32 years the cost of a new tournament water ski boat has increased by almost 600%. Now that’s freaking inflation!
It’s a small number if the numbers are correct.
I would venture to say under reporting is only one part of this problem with accuracy.
I don’t know about you but young people I know who got the shot are dying unexpectedly of unknown or related causes.
I'm sure that will be a great comfort to the grieving family members.
I love the boating scene. I live near Lake St. Clair at the Selfridge Field end and there is such a variety of watercraft out there that it makes my head spin. However, I don’t think a degree in waterskiing is gonna get a graduate much further than Cypress Gardens!
I don’t want to say it was the vaxx but....
I guess I admire your confidence on that count.
