The Codex Sassoon, believed to date from the late 9th or early 10th century, was bought at Sotheby’s by the American Friends of the ANU — Museum of the Jewish People.

The oldest near-complete Hebrew Bible sold at Sotheby’s for $38.1 million on Wednesday, one of the highest prices for a book or historical document ever sold at auction.

The volume, known as the Codex Sassoon, includes all 24 books of the Hebrew Bible, minus about eight leaves, including the first 10 chapters of Genesis. Researchers have dated it to the late ninth or early 10th century, making it the oldest near-complete Hebrew Bible known to exist.

Wow. Those higher critics got started early.

Genesis 11:1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.

🤔

More difficult is “hara” “is pregnant.”

I haven't studied the particular 'issue' with that word, but thought this etym. was kind of interesting:

Akka. erū, arū (= to conceive)...

Because, in the land named for being the origin of the Sun, "eru" is the word for a large sized-something; e.g. clothing, soft drinks.

Which is to say, how "L" is pronounced. Small, medium, large end up as esu, emu, eru...

Who would ever conceive of this stuff?

Isa 7.14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanu-L [אל, same as the Latin letter that = 50 is spelled].

Aru is R, so L or R.

The real mystery is how he gets from point A to point B and everywhere else.

Old school.

Immanuel transmission.

by the by.... (or bye the bye..?)
hara means (currently) pregnant. Not “will/shall” conceive. It’s the classic argument.
If you look for hara, vikarat, and of course alma in any other places in a concordance you’ll get “pregnant” “and she will call” and “young woman”

Thank you for directing me to this word debate. As I mentioned, it wasn't something I was familiar with.

(The clip I pasted came from Klein's, but was limited to my diversion on the word play aspects, which came full circle.)

I like words with "issues" because I've often noticed that there's some excellent intel to mine that's outside of the interpretation camps where everyone keeps digging.

Kind of like hara as "her mountain" and "currently pregnant". Makes simple sense. 😊

Or how about this:

הָרָה
hara
fraught (with consequences, etc.) (used in construct state)

Double prizes for that one. See, I not only learn something new, I get to be amused as well. Win-win.

And then I ran the phrase, הנה העלמה הרה

And it = 420. Well now, that's not just the traditional years for the existence of the Second Temple, it first shows up in Gen 1:2,

"And the earth *was* tohu v'vohu..."

Which then partly inspired the light bulb "Ahaz" moment of epiphany, "Let there be light", so I never actually get off track. Links right back to the previous post about the flying Aha alma with her school book, rope, and light.

I noticed also that those words all begin and end with the letter hei. Yet another observation that could come in handy down the road somewhere. That's why I simply observe whatever, because I just never know.

Standing on a mountain looking down on a city
The way I feel is a doggone pity
Teardrops fallin' down a mountainside
Many times I've been here, many times I've cried
We used to be so happy when we were in love
High on a mountain of love..

Mountain of Love -- Johnny Rivers

Because there's always a song! And to think people insist that the era of prophets has been over since forever.

I might really irritate folks with comments like that, but when there's no intent to teach some Biblical "truth", the messages roll right through, pure and uncorrupted. Nobody's looking there to mess with it, to mold it to conform with some doctrine.

Like how Zion and his "beautiful mountains" were dialing in Joseph, so he could sing about his brothers.

Why must I be a Teenager in Love?

So beautiful!

Isaiah 52:7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who announces peace; who brings good news of good, who announces salvation; who says to Zion, Your God reigns:

One day I thought about those Temple timelines. 410, 420... and it seemed natural that the next one would go with 430: nefesh, the soul level of action, of David.

Meaning forever.
