An outraged mother is calling for the bullies that traumatized her disabled son by using his wheelchair while making fun of him to face consequences.
Kimberly Mitchell of Louisiana sent a letter addressing a recent 'senior prank' at Abbeville High School in which students mocked her son Tay'Shawn Landry, who has cerebral palsy and requires a motorized wheelchair.
In the videos, a group is seen in the school wreaking havoc by covering a hallway in toilet paper, stacking desks and chairs on top of each other, and riding around in the wheelchair.
One video shared by the mother shows a student in Landry's chair appearing to slur his speech and make squealing noises while another person recording laughs.
In a post on Facebook, Mitchell said the group 'played with the wrong child and the wrong mama' and 'there will be consequences.'
'Sr. Pranks are fun and all but when you make fun of my disabled kid and his belongings then IT BECOMES MY PROBLEM,' the angry mother wrote.
In an interview with KLFY, Landry said the videos broke his heart and caused him to feel unwilling to return to school.
'I was upset. I was mad. I was crying. I tried to stop myself from crying because I wanted to go to school. [I] couldn't. I was just upset,' he said.
Landry's wheelchair had been in a classroom at the time that the students entered the school, an official with the Vermilion Parish School System said.
'On Friday, videos became available via social media that the students gained access into a locked room that housed an electric wheelchair on loan to an AHS student that uses it during the school day,' Superintendent Tommy Byler wrote.

If you care about your kids, you won’t subject them to public school torture.
And you wouldn’t give them a weird name like Tay’Shawn! I don’t need to see photos!
“What a country!” — Yakov Smirnoff
There is a serious lack of discipline in public schools, and it just keeps getting worse. The more minority the population is, the worse the discipline.
What difference does his name make???
Wait... the kid wasn’t even there?
They played with his wheelchair that they found in a closet?
This seems like racist supremacy on the other foot.
This seems like racist supremacy on the other foot.
I think the headline is misleading. I thought the kid was removed from his wheelchair and mocked by the other kids. The incident happened when school was out. The kid was at home when this happened. I think the pranksters acted stupid but it’s not a hate crime or anything like that.
Those Bullies need to be WHIPPED and EXPELLED!! Back in the good ole days, they would be sent to REFORM SCHOOL!
“There is a serious lack of discipline in public schools, “
And a severe lack of parenting at these kids’ homes. Probably they’ve never seen the inside of a church, either.
The world IS a vampire, set to drain you of your morals And sanity .
“I think the pranksters acted stupid but it’s not a hate crime or anything like that.”
True about the wheelchair. But mocking his speech and body which he has no control over is pretty bad. Not a “hate crime”, though; the phrase is over used. They’re brats, probably kill birds and cats, and future prison residents.
Thats pretty bad... Back in the day worst we ever did was switch his battery cables. Which drew laughter from even him when he pressed forward and went into reverse.
Hahaha
Everyone involved is black so nothing will happen.
Move along, nothing to see here.
Yep- you can damn sure bet if Tay-Shawn’s speech was mocked, Jesse Jackson and lollipop-Head Al Sharpton would show up to protest.
It sounds like the students put the videos online for all to see.
Some students have committed suicide because online videos mocked them.
The students should be punished for playing with a wheelchair that a disabled student needs.
And they should be punished for mocking him online.
I hope for the best for him. He seems like a great kid.
