Black light flashlights are GREAT for finding tomato hornworms in late evening/night. Their white patches glow under black light and it’s far easier to find them then.

Scorpions also glow un der black light. I got my black light flashlight at Wal-Mart.

I am trying a new cuke called “munchers”. I mostly grow them for picking you for pickles anyway.

That’s wonderful that you grow fruit trees.

I would not even try it here LOL

Ergot and other fungi also glow under black light. Useful if you decide to grow grains such as rye.

This is what I ordered for weeding - I too have a kneeling pad but with my arthritic knees it is hard to get up and down. This should make it easier on the olde knees.

Lied about waiting to fall to plant - found volunteer Banana tree plants that need transplanting. Fun! Fun!

Still holding out on the vegetables until later...

Very nice! Do you use a cover? How do you keep the deer away?

Gorgeous evening. Everything (fields, pastures, yard, entrances) is mowed - looks like a park & smells like fresh mown hay.

Finally made it to the garden:
ALL dahlias are up - yay!
Despite the cool weather, I have a little tomato on one of my Celebrities.
Radishes are up as are my onion sets.
Sugar snap peas were a tangled mess, grabbing on to each other - straightened them out a bit & got the various tendrils headed for different parts of the trellis.
None of the tomatoes or peppers look like they have sunburned at all - yay again!
Spent some time making room for the mower in the garage instead of out in the pole barn - will be easier to take care of & totally protected from the weather. The battery maintainer is also easier to access & connect/disconnect.

All in all, a very productive & satisfying day.

I'd have to see that one in action to understand how it works. I have (and used to sell at my hardware store) something called a 'Hula Hoe' check it out I love it.

This bed is up close to the house. I do have a big roll of deer netting and bamboo poles leaning against the house just in case...

So far, the only thing I have up on this part of my lawn is armadillos looking for grubs. They tear up the lawn but have not gone in the bed. Yet?

Okay the Hula Hoe has it's uses in clearing weeds & etc. that have gone wild but not in your lawn. Grampa's weeder is demo'ed here I've gotta get one.

Jack hammered a sidewalk out today as the first step in my subterranean irrigation planter project. There might be an age limit on this sort of work that I exceeded today... Hopefully no one noticed but me.

I know that Armadillos will jump straight up and smash into your windshield when driving and possibly transmit leprosy, but I do not know about their diet!

Good luck! Nice bed of greens!

Especially useful for Ergot! Not something you want to eat.

(I think the Pythian Priestesses at the Delphic Oracle were given ergot in their food.)

Aw. A fresh litter of kittens here and the Catahoula is their second momma. She’s been spayed and at 15 months, still a puppy herself.

Nice.

That Napa cabbage makes for some good Kimchee and sweet ferments.
