I’m leaning toward a brown dwarf in our own system on the long cycle. There is enough evidence in planetary movements that there should be another planet within the system to explain why orbits and periodicity are off. Plus it would match more closely to the “light” and the “dark” motif of a lot of earlier historical finds ... such as Marduk.

A long cycled brown dwarf explains a lot of the same things as the Sirius theory. I just think Sirius is too far distance for the timeframes in question.

Of course it could also be a combination of both...where there is a shorter cycle at 12k years and a longer one of up to 30-40k or so.

"“light” and the “dark” (sun(s))"

Can mean one of two thoughts:

One: related to how they viewed the firmament.
For example: At night they associated our sun with Jupiter.
The association with Saturn. I'm not positive I think that is Sirius. From the story that Saturn was hit by something then left the firmament and came back. Remember the Saturn rings are relatively new.

Two: If there is something in our system it's more likely a black dwarf. My view of a black dwarf it's a burned out white dwarf. Which all stars are made up of Metallic hydrogen. Metallic hydrogen absorbs light. The center of sun spots that black area is actually Metallic hydrogen (extreme density liquid) IE:surface of the sun. (ignoring NASA's mythology)
