A bride and groom leaving their wedding reception in Folly Beach, South Carolina, on a golf cart were hit by a car, leading to the woman's death, according to police and the family.

Folly Beach police said about 10 p.m. Friday, a vehicle rear-ended a golf cart in the 1200 block of E. Ashley Avenue.

There was a driver in the car and four people in the golf cart, police said.

Police said one person in the golf cart died and the three others were injured.

A GoFundMe page identifies the bride as Samantha “Sam" Hutchinson, 34, and her new husband as Aric Hutchinson.

The page, organized by the mother of the groom, said family members were escorting the couple from the reception when they were hit from behind.

"The golf cart was thrown over 100 yards and rolled several times," the page says.

It says Aric Hutchinson is in serious condition and has had one of two reconstruction surgeries, numerous broken bones and a brain injury.

The page said the two others were also injured, one seriously.

"I was handed Aric’s wedding ring in a plastic bag at the hospital, five hours after Sam placed it on his finger and they read each other their vows," the groom's mother wrote on the page. "Aric has lost the love of his life."

The driver of the car, Jamie Lee Komoroski, 25, was arrested and charged with three counts of DUI involving great bodily injury or death and reckless homicide, according to the Charleston County Detention Center website.

She is being held with no bond.

Threw the golfcart 300 feet and only one of the four in the cart died? I just plain doubt that distance.

Been years ago, but my now deceased great aunt had a tee time every morning at 7:00 a.m. on the sixth hole. Had a little shed with electricity for her cart and kept her clubs as well as her partners on the back.

Beautiful bride. What a horrific tragedy. I hope this idiot spends many years of her youth in jail and then never gets a drivers license again. This is just so sad, what she did.

Thanks for those pictures. Truly heartbreaking. Are evening marriages common in the South?

Why was a golf cart on a road?

Perhaps just as importantly, what kind of idiot journalist would describe a car hitting a golf cart as a "golf cart crash"?

She could face up to 25 years in prison for the death of the bride, as well of a fine of up to $25,100

An additional 15 years and $10,100 for the serious injury caused to the men in the buggy.

For reckless homicide she could be handed 10 years in prison, and a fine of up to $5,000

Time for some public hangings for drunk drivers who kill people.

For those who don’t understand or have knowledge of, .....golf carts are legal at the beach, in fact many cities in the US have roads that golf carts are able to drive on and accidents between golf carts and cars are rare. These roads are typically with low speed limits and are never freeways/highways.
