This is a slam dunk when it comes to narrative warfare.

🧵 1. The gravity of the misconduct uncovered by Mr. Durham cannot be overstated.

2. The LEAST one can say of it is that it involved a malicious use of federal law-enforcement officers to conduct a contrived investigation utterly lacking any valid, factual foundation from the very beginning. That is itself incredibly troubling—and also unconstitutional.

3. But this was SO MUCH WORSE than that. It was an effort to use use a powerful, long-respected, federal law-enforcement agency to render a presidential candidate unelectable—entirely in the absence of any valid, good-faith basis for doing so.

4. So make no mistake—this can’t be dismissed as mere carelessness or even a severe example of garden-variety misconduct. No—this is as corrupt and as subversive of the Constitution as it gets.(This tweet was deleted, hmmmmm?)

5. Regardless of your political leanings or your feelings about Donald Trump, you should find this terrifying.

6. When federal law-enforcement agencies can undertake such a brazen effort to frame someone they don’t like to throw the outcome of an election—and then remain largely protected for seven years thereafter—popular sovereignty in America is under serious attack.

7. Democrats and Republicans should be equally offended by this breathtakingly corrupt act.

CNN’s Jake Tapper and Evan Perez discuss the Durham Report, which suggested no new charges, despite determining that the FBI and DOJ should never have initiated their investigation into Donald Trump, which falsely accused the former President of being a Russian agent:

“The report is now here. It has dropped, and it might not have produced everything of what some Republicans hoped for. It is, regardless, devastating to the FBI. And to a degree, it does exonerate Donald Trump.”

“The bottom line finding from John Durham’s four-year investigation is that the FBI moved very quickly to investigate these allegations of connections of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia and that they did so by ignoring a lot of evidence that would have led them to drop that all together...

What he finds is that there wasn’t enough there to support the FBI’s decision to open a full-blown investigation of the Trump-Russia ties back in 2016.

He writes here he says that it seems highly likely that, at a minimum, confirmation bias played a significant role in the FBI’s acceptance of extraordinarily serious allegations derived from uncorroborated information that had not been subjected to the typical exacting analysis that the FBI usually uses.

He goes on to say that the FBI discounted or willfully ignored material information that did not support the narrative of a collusive relationship between Trump and Russia.

There was a lot of very sharp criticism here of the former FBI leadership, James Comey and Andy McCabe, who were running the FBI and who oversaw a lot of these have a lot of the steps that the report goes into, Jake, but as you pointed out, bottom line, there are no additional charges....

A couple quotes here from Durham’s report, based on the review of Crossfire Hurricane, that’s the investigation into Trump and Russia, and related intelligence activities we conclude that the Justice Department and FBI failed to uphold their important mission of strict fidelity to the law.”

The President of the United States was falsely accused of being a foreign agent of Russia and framed for treason by the FBI, the Justice Department, and the American media, and no one will be held accountable.

They committed crimes so large that they will never be brought to justice. Their crimes destroyed the government and system that could bring them to account for their crimes.
