Fetterman: Agriculture can’t ‘cannibalize’ climate change funding
The Hill ^ | 4/27/2023 | Saul Elbien

Federal funds aimed at helping agriculture address the effects of climate change must not be raided to fund agriculture as a whole, said Sen. John Fetterman (D-Penn.).

His move comes as congressional Republicans suggest defunding agricultural conservation programs entirely.

“I strongly oppose any measures that would essentially cannibalize Inflation Reduction Act conservation funding in order to pay for the Farm Bill conservation efforts,” he wrote in a letter to the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee.

The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) is the climate stimulus package the Democrats passed along party lines last September. It contains $19 billion for helping agriculture adapt to the climate crisis.

Now, that money is up for grabs as part of the wider negotiations over the $1.4 trillion Farm Bill and an omnibus of food-supporting subsidies and legislation that is passed every five years.

Republicans are seeking to loosen — or cut — any restriction tying that climate funding toward federal conservation programs.

Some want to go so far as to redirect all federal climate funding to the Farm Bill’s baseline budget, essentially turning it into a catchall slush fund, the Idaho Capital Sun reported.

Ranking member John Boozman (R-Ark.) has voiced support for redirecting the entire $39 billion of Farm Bill conservation funding — not just the specific climate stimulus money — to the baseline budget, according to the Capital Sun.

Fighting the Climate Change Crisis is FAR more important than merely growing food. Besides, farms are dirty, and stink, and the animals all fart and destroy the ozone layer — or something.

Don’t WASTE money on farms!

Shove it up your collective DemocRAT Dorkbamahole, Fetterman. By the time you really start trying to implement such crap, congress will no longer be regarded as anything but an enemy - and treated as such. We no longer give a **** what you say or think (if indeed, you are capable of thinking).

When will we use the same tactics and declare that leftist negative thought is burning holes in the ozone layer and we need to do something about it like putting them into gulags to work for the benefit of everyone? Turnabout and all that...

Thank you for referencing that article simpson96.

"Fetterman: Agriculture can’t ‘cannibalize’ climate change funding"

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

The states have never expressly constitutionally given the feds the specific power to tax and spend in the name of INTRAstate agriculture, or politically correct, government-manufactured crisis global warming imo.

In other words, the main way to permanently stop unconstitutional federal taxes is by electing patriot lawmakers who will work to stop unconstitutional federal spending.

When cars and trucks were bleching smoke, I was OK with emission controls. But since then I've realized it has nothing to do with pollution anymore, it's not emissions control they are after. It's American citizen control.

In a sane country there wouldn’t be any “climate change” funding to cannibalize.

It is so sad to see this happening to our country! This guy, who is a smart as a fence post, has written no such letter. His mind is jello as is China Joe’s. I would challenge him to appear on live television, unprompted, to write a three sentence essay on a topic that would be selected randomly. While we are doing that cognitive test for Fester let’s also have China Joe there to recite the Pledge of Allegiance without prompts. Bet they both would fail miserably....

“have China Joe there to recite the Pledge of Allegiance without prompts.”

I’m certain he could not do it.

I’m also certain he could not recite the names of his grandchildren.

Or recall Jill’s birthday.

Etc.

Yep. That’s where we’re at with a shocking number of the young generation. Especially the ones in Blue cities and states.

So if IRA authorizes $100B for conservation and Farm Bill authorizes $100B for conservation, then $100B is appropriated for conservation, which got funded?

Only the beginning…
I will need to configure my CI score (Carbon Intensity).
The CI score of the renewable fuels that are being produced to replace traditional fuels must be less than the CI benchmarks to generate LCFS credits. The LCFS credits are then sold and traded and generate revenue for a renewables project.
A friend in the renewable fuels industry claim soon a farmer may not be able to sell grains it’s out the proper CI Score.
