Microsoft’s Windows has always dominated the desktop OS space globally, as the operating system is widely available with many PC manufacturing partners such as Dell, HP and Lenovo. However, a recent trend shows that Windows, the operating system by Microsoft, is rapidly losing popularity in the US, due to the rise of macOS and ChromeOS in the country.
I could have easily resisted that. I would have had to have a minimal clue what it meant before even considering it.
Slowly my engineering software is going on the cloud. Some work on on any platform in any browser (OnShape). Just about anything else is available “on the cloud” so not any reason for OSs to get better.
I am still stuck with windows but it is nice having my spare laptops running linux in the office running the backups and email servers.
I bought the samsung phone with windows CE. It had a stylus, a real keyboard, Windows, microSD ram slot, everything I wanted. I hated it. The software would not work, the stylus was cumbersome, the keyboard would creak on certain keys but not others. I got Android immediately after. I didn’t buy iPhone for years because I was pissed about having to get ATT service to have one. I used Verizon. I had a samsung galaxy 3 until I slammed it in my car door, then went with Motorola Razer and Razer Max before getting completely sick of Android not being updated on Android phones. I have been using iPhone since 8 and I will never go back.
My Samsung 10+ note runs brave browser and has ghostery. No ads and powerful
#9 Correct!
Telling people their perfectly good computer will not work with Windows 11 is very stupid. Also forcing people to rent Office 365 did not help. Microsoft fixed that and you can buy Office for cheap https://bmlkeys.com/
Doesn’t the graph show that it’s the year of the Mac desktop?
Most jobs I have had over the last 10 years or so allow and support Mac…at least in some capacity.
Windows still dominates the corporate landscape. But it isn’t like it used to be.
Wozniak liked it better than Apple or Android...
Microsoft has pushed us away.
Thanks for that link to buy buggy bloatware.
Well, Apple xOS’ of any flavor are free. Good hardware is the premium expense
