Hundreds of thousands of once loyal Fox News viewers are leaving the network in droves following Tucker Carlson's firing.
Those viewers are apparently abandoning the network as they look for something fresh in his old time slot.
Fox drew 1.33 million viewers for hastily arranged replacement show Fox News Tonight hosted by Brian Kilmeade in Carlson's old 8pm slot on Wednesday night.
It put Fox firmly in second place to liberal network MSNBC's Chris Hayes, who had 1.38 million tune in Wednesday, in a competition Carlson used to easily dominate, the Nielsen ratings company said.
Carlson offered his own alternative to both Kilmeade and Hayes on Wednesday, posting a two-minute monologue on Twitter at 8pm. By Thursday night, that video has been viewed 70 million times, according to the social media site.
Fox's figures are down 56 percent from the 3.05 million viewers Carlson reached last Wednesday, Nielsen said.
Hayes spent around 15 minutes of his show talking about Tucker Carlson on his show and the fallout from his firing.
The discussion went into the culture at the right-wing network in the wake of Carlson's leaked texts with former Fox personality Gretchen Carlson (no relation) giving her views.
For all of 2022, Carlson averaged 3.03 million viewers, second only to Fox's 'The Five' as the most popular program on cable television.
Kilmeade had 1.7 million viewers on Tuesday and 2.59 million on Monday, when he told people who hadn't already heard the news that Carlson would no longer be appearing on the network.

When FOX cancelled Tucker, they cancelled us.
We, too, now “agree to go our separate ways.”
Sory but imho Kilmeade is literally managed opposition. He will put nothing out that hasn’t been carefully curated and scripted to support a managed counter narrative meant to lull the masses to sleep.
Milquetoast at best and will once again continue the practice of smothering the real stories so they never see the light of day.
And I think Megyn is correct about Fox trying to destroy Tucker. That said, the more they (Fox) try, the more it will backfire on them.
It's good that Tucker has been cut loose. Now he can build his own brand without Fox holding him back.
The fact that Fox didn’t have a plan shows how “off the hip” this firing was.
Give it three months…they will put together something better than their peers.
I never liked O’Reilly. Tucker was sooooooooooooo much better than O’Reilly.
I would roll in Covuto, Perino and Charlie Gasparino, and set the stage in a restaurant in Little Italy. What do they have to lose?
I think it is hilarious that people can’t tear themselves away from FOX. Even when they know every individual on there only spouts what is allowed by Rupert. Fall out of line and they get smacked and disappeared for a few weeks. How dare they report the truth or non government spin?
I watched Tucker and nothing else on FOX. Never missed any of it and still don’t.
People need to open their eyes and see that FOX supported and pushed everything that has damaged America and has suppressed what the truth is.
FOX isn’t your friend. They are promoting ignorance.
Just as I figured. Mondays rating was an anomaly, half the audience didn’t know TC had been fired. Now they are gone, fark you Fox, fark you Murdoch’s.
Murdoch doesn’t care. He doesn’t need the money. Tucker had to go because the election is coming, and the left ordered a purge of commentators who support truth.
There is a chicken wing bone out there for Mr. Murdoch.
Carlson’s days were numbered when Paul rat face Ryan showed up. He was not invited to the board for anything beyond showing what was wanted: GOPe. As a network the only thing they should have cared about was subscribers and their advertisers revenue. The more carlson raged the farther he got from the Ryan example. Coupled with the second tier ad revenue he was generating due to what has become a deep state/large company media the die was cast for him. He knew it. He pushed the envelope and forced their hand purposely. Toward what end I don’t know. I don’t care if he ends on his feet as much as he needs find a platform with the visibility to air his viewpoint to a wider audience. Short of Twitter I don’t see where that will be. Meanwhile those at fox remain under the thumb of Ryan example. Waiver too much and you lose your income. At the end of the day they are just high expense prostitutes.
I’m done...probably for good this time....
Fox is about to be Heinerscheided. Good riddance.
Fox is about to be Heinerscheided. Good riddance.
The Dung Beetle Party turd rollers are now using the same technique they used to bring down FOX to bring down the Surpreme Court. The GOP needs to start defunding ALL FERAL COURTS before the Dung Beetles can use them to completely destroy America.
Same. When they called Arizona for Biden insanely early I knew something was up.
There’s still hosts that I like but nothing compelling over other things I’d rather be doing.
In general, cable news is dead.
Me neither.
While I miss The Five and Gutfield I can’t watch a moment of a network that just thinks of my political views as a commodity.
Let their stock sink.
I won’t. Newsmax, RAV and OAN are my news channels now.
The Murdochs can suck it.
They have been broadcasting just enough 'right wing' content to keep conservative viewers hooked while they slowly slip the deep state propaganda into place expecting us to believe it because it was on FOX.
After Nov 2019 I stopped watching FOX for news, only kept Gutfeld! and Tucker Carlson. Had t stop Gutfeld when Tyrus left and Greg's ego overwhelmed his personality. Stopped watching Varney on FOX Business when he continued to refer to Slo Bidum as 'President' instead of 'President Elect'.
Tell a lie to enough people enough times and they start believing it. It becomes the new truth.
I'll stick to FR, links recommended on FR, and Bannon to keep my eyes open.
Rupert has made some wild calls over the years and weathered some close calls but if this was his personal decision it was either a poor one or some plan. It’s hard to tell but seems like he simply didn’t like Tucket being such a lighting rod for the non establishment side of the right
