Former Anheuser-Busch exec says firm is 'wrong' to think Dylan Mulvaney controversy will go away by ignoring it because conservative customers won't just forget the fiasco

A former Anheuser-Busch (AB) executive says the firm is 'wrong' to think that the controversy surrounding Dylan Mulvaney's paid partnership with Bud Light will go away because conservative customers won't forget the fiasco.

Anson Frericks claimed that counting on people to forget about the incident which sparked widespread fury on April 1 is the 'wrong bet to make'.

He appeared on Fox & Friends Weekend on Fox News Sunday to discuss reports that Bud Light's marketing vice president Alissa Heinerscheid has taken a leave of absence following the incident.

She is being replaced by Budweiser global marketing vice president Todd Allen, according to AdAge.

It comes after worldwide calls for a boycott of Bud Light after transgender influencer Mulvaney promoted American's best selling beers to her 11 million followers on social media in a series of partnered posts.

Frericks, who worked for AB for over a decade, believes the traditionally 'apolitical brand' became embroiled in controversy when investors began pushing them to be accountable to 'all these so-called stakeholders, political organizations, activist organizations.'

'That's the bet they're making. I think that's the wrong bet to make. And I think now is the time to go back, and, for companies like Anheuser-Busch to say that, hey, moving forward for brands like Bud Light, we're not going to be political,' he told co-host Will Cain.

'We're not going to get involved in the environmental social governance movement, because that's not what the customer wants.'

He added: 'There's a more fundamental problem that's going on right now where Anheuser-Busch has to choose who it's going to be accountable to… Will it be its shareholders?

This beer company needs to hire people who do NOT graduate from Harvard. LEARN from your mistakes, people.

Anheuser-Busch (AB) needs to fire immediately everyone all the way the chain of command to the top who created and signed off on or didn’t formally object to this ill-conceived, disgusting campaign. Doing that just might help. No passing the buck will do. No scapegoaling one person will do.

Sort of like we won’t forget the transgressions of the NFL? The NFL is more popular than ever, even amongst some people on this forum. My bet is that a year from now this will be forgotten by most.

If AB was going to change direction, that CEO would’ve stated so specifically a couple weeks ago. They’re going to try and ride this out, because Americans possess notoriously short attention spans.

There is nothing that good or special about Bud Light that would make me want to drink it again. Ditto with other AB products. There is no shortage of good beer brands out there that are not woke.

It’s not the same thing, it’s as Matt Walsh said, they are uniquely vulnerable. The Reno’s no football replacement for the NFL, whereas light beer is easily replaceable by a dozen other brands.

While I don’t disagree with you that there are other beers... Please list ALL of the brands under the Transheuser Busch ownership that we are all supposed to avoid....Then square it away afterwards.

I won’t forget. I have learned about every beverage AnBev makes and will buy none of them.

Bud Light was always fourth choice behind Busch Light, Coors Heavy, and PBR. No more tranny fluid for me.

Eventually the public will get over it. Eventually the sun will burn into a cinder. Could be a tie.

“Sort of like we won’t forget the transgressions of the NFL”
The difference is that the NFL is without competition, there are many beers out there.

The problem with Anheuser Belgique, is the same as Bed Bath and Beyond. Until the elites can eliminate other satisfactory light beer choices for young and middle aged heterosexualls, like Coors light and Miller lite to name a few, no one who doesn’t like Trannys being forced down their throats (metaphorically) has to even consider drinking their beer!

Yuengling is a much better beer than Bud. Many will try Yuengling because they a pissed off with Budweiser. They will stay with Yuengling because it tastes better.
