A young Colorado woman was struck and killed by a rock somebody hurled through her windshield as she was driving home through a tony Denver suburb on Wednesday night — which authorities are investigating as part of a disturbing pattern.
Arvada resident Alexa Bartell, 20, was returning from work around 10:45 p.m. when the large rock sailed through her windowshield and hit her.
Bartell had been on the phone with a friend when the line suddenly went silent.
The pal tracked her down using her phone’s location, where she discovered Bartell’s car run off the road in a field with her body inside.
Shocking photos show the shattered windshield and the back window blown out.

Usually there’s an overpass involved.
Usually there is a certain protected demographic involved.
The most likely demographic is homeless/meth head.
You never know. Back in 2018 a man was killed in similar circumstances. The perps were five clean-cut white boys.

NY Post: The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office determined that Bartell was killed by the rock, which could have been thrown from a passing car.
Not too many homeless meth heads driving cars.
For anyone curious about the attack I mentioned in post #5, here’s how the sentencing went. From Wikipedia:
“Kyle Anger, who was an adult at the time of the incident and who threw the rock that killed White pled guilty to second degree murder. He received a sentence of 3 years to 20 years in prison, with credit for 740 days already served. He was released in January 2021 after serving 39 months in prison. The 4 other teens were all sentenced on August 4, 2021 to 1 year of probation.”

This happened to my Dad and brother many years ago while driving through the ghetto. Dad was driving. Luckily the brick didn’t completely shatter windshield, and he was able to keep his composure and get to the side of the road.
There was a case like this in San Diego back about 2000. A man was driving on the freeway about 2 a.m. when someone dropped a large rock or maybe a cinder block from a freeway overpass. It went through the car’s windshield and killed the man’s wife who was seated on the passenger side.
Bet your dad wasn’t on his cell phone! Not saying the young Lady’s results would have been different had she been totally focused on the rode, but holding a cell phone to your ear could have cause a delayed reaction time. May she RIP.

Always wondered why some overpasses have tall fences on each side. Now I think I know.
We were on a bus trip on Rt 3 in Connecticut when someone hurled a large rock through a side window. There were several injuries.
not this time ... heavy rocks are being thrown at high velocity from a passing pickup truck ... if both vehicles are traveling 60 mph, the striking rock has a 120 mph relative velocity ... the five recent instances in the denver area have happened several miles a part ...
So much evil.
In 1970, I was riding my Norton motorcycle to work and a set of young people on an overpass dropped a fist-sized rock that hit me in the center of my chest.
It knocked the living crap out of me, but I stayed upright and tried to find an exit ahead of me to get off and go after those teens, but it was miles before I could get off the freeway and get back to that road and by the time I got there, they were long gone.
A nice anonymous way of killing someone.
While the article doesn't specify, hands-free phone connections are pretty common in automobiles these days.

Your math skills suck. If both car are traveling 60 mph in the same direction and you throw a rock 5 mph faster relative to the earth your rick is traveling 65 mph, relative to the other car it is traveling 5 mph.
