As a postscript to my earlier post, in this case Dr. Hawass is correct. But it sounds like the Netflix series has set a very low bar for historical accuracy.

Some have speculated that Cleopatra was pretty short, about 5 ft tall Also was rather plump if not obese

“If they do a biopic of Martin Luther King, I think they should spare no expense and get the best actor they possibly can. Maybe Leonardo DiCaprio. Or Robert DeNiro.”
Nah, just some Greek guy. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander, right?

Since Macedonia is now northern Greece, she probably looked Greek— like Irene Pappas eg.

Then he was an uneducated moron who knew NO factual history.
When Alexander the Greek conquered Egypt, he set one of his general, Ptolemy, as Pharaoh. The siblings married, so they were pure Macedonian Greek, i.e.white/CAUCASIAN. Cleopatra was the last of the line, which had ruled Egypt for almost 300 years.
Once upon a time, when schools taught factual history, we all knew this.

Contemporaneous Roman descriptions of her, which was NEVER flattering, never mentions her height, doesn't call her plump nor obese, but do talk about her charm and intellect, as well as her being cunning.
Coin depictions of her do not portray her as fat and neither do they make her look like a beauty.

Zahi had better watch it, or Jada will have Will Smith punch him in the face.
A petition started by two Egyptians calling on Netflix to cancel their upcoming Cleopatra documentary garnered well over 60,000 signatures until it was removed by Change.org for "violating community guidelines".
Change.org is just as much a piece of garbage as is Netflix.

Charisma does not depend (totally) on physical beauty although it helps. Two Romans who were no dummies and no mean shakes in the charisma department fell for her.
She probably did not have the figure of a teenager by the time she died but as she was a mother several times over that would not be unexpected. As for fat, probably not.

Dr. Hawass is no fan of affirmative action and severe historical inaccuracies.

She was a teen when Julius fell for her.
From the ancient coins I've seen, she wasn't a raving beauty, but she wasn't ugly either and supposedly she was extremely intelligent, well read, charming, and yes, charismatic.
Though older when Antony fell mightily for her, as well as a mother, she must have had enough allure, charm, and whit to have enticed him so thoroughly.

Cleopatra was black. Get used to it.........
