The US CEO of Bud Light parent company Anheuser-Busch has broken his silence to address polarization over the company's marketing partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney.
'We never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people,' said CEO Brendan Whitworth in a public statement issued on Friday.
'We are in the business of bringing people together over a beer.'
Aside from an initial terse statement, Anheuser-Busch had remained silent since the controversy emerged on April 1, when conservative Bud Light fans questioned why Mulvaney had been tapped to promote the bestselling beer on a TikTok channel she created to document her gender transition.
In the meantime, the controversy took on a bizarre life of its own, with musician Kid Rock posting a video of himself shooting at cases of Bud Light, and country singers John Rich and Travis Tritt publicly denouncing the brand.
And there has been counter-backlash, with shock jock Howard Stern slamming the fury at Bud Light as overblown, and podcaster Joe Rogan calling the conservative outrage over Mulvaney 'goofy.'
On the eve of Mulvaney's announcement of the partnership, Alissa Heinerscheid, the vice president of marketing for Bud Light, said she wanted to make the brand less 'fratty'.
'I'm a businesswoman, I had a really clear job to do when I took over Bud Light, and it was 'This brand is in decline, it's been in a decline for a really long time, and if we do not attract young drinkers to come and drink this brand, there will be no future for Bud Light,' she told a podcast.

We can't have a a beer without the left shitting on it.
No of course not.
The person who made the decision had not the slightest inkling that there was controversy associated with the "discussion."
It was "a discussion" among people who all agreed with each other.
Stopped reading at “she”.
It’s why you get when you pander to less than 1% of the population.
No, it's now about 1.6% of the population. More than double what it was ten years ago.
Too late, they have given the brands soul to the radical left
The very idea which was circulated, that the executives knew nothing of the perverted ads, is just pure b.s. If they did not know, they are incompetent. It is up to the executives to be on top of everything affecting the brand and trademark.
Most of the transgendered today are not legally able to drink beer.
Anheuser-Busch CEO: Dumbass. Liar.
Does this twit honestly believe that transpeople or homosexuals are going to start drinking Bud Light just because Dylan's face is on the cans? They never have and they never will, they are usually drinking mixed fruit cocktails or hard liquor.
This statement by AB is your typical cowardly non-apology apology. I would have canned the entire marketing and advertising department, slashed my beer brand prices by 25%, and issued a full-throated apology, as well as cutting some ads poking fun at AB.
In it not on it. Bud Light is crappy beer. Haven’t drank it in years. I will avoid all Anheuser-Busch products in the future.
So let me get this straight. You use a hyper controversial female impersonator in your ad campaign and now you are proclaiming you "never intended to be a part of a discussion that divides people."
That, sir, is a bald-faced, gas-lighting lie.
‘We never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people,’ said CEO Brendan Whitworth
There’s your sign.......
When everyone agrees with the leader then only one person is doing the thinking.
Ex-CIA becomes CEO....gents, the coup has spread out from beyond the government, and they have co-opted banking, beer, to donuts.
I don’t think this guy is gonna win the Hank Reardon Award any time soon.
Put Brandon’s face on the can and then fill the racetrack with beer.
‘This brand is in decline, it’s been in a decline for a really long time, and if we do not attract young drinkers to come and drink this brand, there will be no future for Bud Light,’ she told a podcast.”
I’ll admit that I’m not one to follow beer consumption trends - but is there any truth to this? Is/was Bud Light declining in sales?
Again, I admit that I’m not always advertising savvy about products - but I don’t see how bringing in a tranny was gonna help matters.
What does Anheuser-Busch do? If they throw Heinersheid to the wolves, they risk a boycott from gays (who don’t drink Bud anyway) and if they don’t, their sales will continue to decline.
Here’s what AB-Inbev does: The Mulvaney ad campaign goes away quietly. Heinerscheid is moved to, as they say, other job opportunities and pathways in AB-Inbev. the company denies being anti-tranny or anti-gay and makes a large donation to gay rights groups and hopes the informal boycott will stop.
Sound right?
It’s gone up a little because now it’s a “fad” among young people to be trans.
However 40% of those who have complete surgery die by suicide so what does that lower it to? Plus this population has higher AIDS and other health problems. Their life spans is that of about age 35.
So what is the stats on that?
