Don’t they need to be cranked in order to start?
I thought I recalled seeing silent movies with the early cars, some needing to be cranked from a turning device in the rear.

No that was ICE. Know that thing on the engine called crankshaft? Guess why. You turned that yourself. Usually the front of the car but wherever the engine was.
Kettering’s ignition changed that so electricity turned the crankshaft.
That was gasoline-powered cars before the electric starter. You can STILL mechanically start a lot of cars, but without a handcrank, it involves pushing the car until everything is turning fast enough. I once did it with a 1998-ish Ford Taurus.
Speaking of cranking why don’t they make a car that runs on fentynal since there seems to be plenty of it around.
