Former San Francisco fire commissioner attacked with crowbar day after Bob Lee stabbed to death

Neighbors of former San Francisco Fire Commissioner Don Carmignani said “no one is safe” in the city after he was brutally attacked by a transient with a metal crowbar just steps away from his family’s front door.

Carmignani was attacked a day after Cash App founder Bob Lee was stabbed to death by an unknown assailant early Tuesday morning.

Carmignani, 53, was leaving his mother’s home at about 7 p.m. in the Marina District when he was accosted by a man waving an industrial metal crowbar...

San Francisco Police later arrested Garret Doty, 24, who was booked on assault with a deadly weapon.

Joe Alioto-Veronese, a prominent attorney and friend, said Carmignani was at his mother’s home when he noticed Doty and two other transients blocking the driveway.

When Carmignani asked them to move, he was bludgeoned in the back of the head by Doty...

While overall violent crime fell 13.6% from 2019 to 2022, homicides in San Francisco rose 36.6%, from 41 to 56 in the city of 815,000, according to police statistics.

Violent crimes also saw an uptick of 7.5% over the past three years throughout San Francisco, while property crime has exploded to 20.7% over the past three years.

I believe it is a myth that violent crimes have dropped in San Francisco and California (despite the Dem politicians claim). The D.A.’s just don’t charge the culprits (thus the phantom drop in crime).
They can’t play that game with the murders - which is why they have to report a rise in the murder rate.

How do they separate the men from the boys in San Francisco?

With a crowbar!

Yep, they just don’t tally the assaults anymore. Makes Sacramento and SF look like their programs are working when they’re utter failures.

What’s that old line? Torture the data enough it’ll surrender?

How is an industrial metal crow bar, different from a regular metal crow bar? 😆

The Marina District is very nice and expensive and used to be very safe. Very sad decline.

“The Marina District is very nice and expensive and used to be very safe. Very sad decline.”

As someone who spends a fair amount of time in that neighborhood, I’d estimate that on any given day there are approximately 200 homeless people living on the streets of the Marina (e.g., sleeping in business doorways along Lombard & Chestnut Streets or in or around the Moscone playground — the zone of this latest crime). Most of those street people are mentally ill and/or addicted to drugs. Most aren’t violent, but clearly some are. There’s a certain poetic justice in the wacko street people taking over Moscone playground in the sense that George Moscone’s mayorship represented a turning point line away from “old San Francisco” (a politically moderate blue-collar town) and a new, hard-left city.

Nobody can get a permit to carry, so it’s open season on law-abiding citizens. Time for the citizenry bring a civil suit, under 42 USC. 1983, which is titled “Civil Action for Deprivation of Rights” (2nd amendment right) which reads:

Every person who, under color of any statute, ordinance, regulation, custom, or usage, of any State or Territory or the District of Columbia, subjects, or causes to be subjected, any citizen of the United States or other person within the jurisdiction thereof to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured by the Constitution and laws, shall be liable to the party injured in an action at law, suit in equity, or other proper proceeding for redress, except that in any action brought against a judicial officer for an act or omission taken in such officer’s judicial capacity, injunctive relief shall not be granted unless a declaratory decree was violated or declaratory relief was unavailable. For the purposes of this section, any Act of Congress applicable exclusively to the District of Columbia shall be considered to be a statute of the District of Columbia.

“”no one is safe””

“”no one feels safe””

The criminals and creeps who carry guns probably feeeeel safer than those who are are unarmed.

Any time I see a sign Gun Free Zone I want to create another sign:

“Criminals Will Succeed And Not Be Harmed In This Area”

The Marina District used to be ultra safe. San Francisco is really circling the drain. Dang.

More like, when people know the police don't care, they won't waste their time even reporting it. Same for car break-ins.
