I exercised for at least 30 minutes I practiced breathing exercises twice I slept at least 7 hours I fasted 12 hours after my meal 8 cups per day
After eight weeks of that, they lost 4.6 years of biological age.
You can do this approach, too.
A separate study approach had been done with men, and they, too, improved.
Not too far off from how we eat. First items are easy to add to a smoothie.
What are 2 servings methylation adaptogens??
Thx for posting.
Exactly how do they measure the future? How do they know when someone will die?
Gawd, I hate virtually everything in that list. Yet, I'm 68 dating 46 and 53 YO women. (I do have McD egg sandwich every day).
Yes, it does. The first title of my book was “50 is the new 30” before I had my epiphany.
And that includes my having accepted that the premise of such ‘programs’ is defective...as was much of my own pre-epiphany approach.
If only.
The diet doesn’t work if yours is as limited as mine is. What I wouldn’t give to be able to eat anything on that list.
:(

Honestly, I’d rather have a cheeseburger and look old.
But how’d they determine it was a woman??

Good job! Sounds like the program at Rancho la Puerta in Tecate Mexico, a place I used to go many years ago.
Was this about weight loss?
Because I weigh 114.

4.6 years. eh?
And just how was that quantified?
First, we only have 7.3 years left to inhabit Gaia.
Secondly, if you eat right, don’t drink or smoke and get plenty of rest and exercise, you’ll get 8 more years in an old folks home.
Lastly, my water goal is achieved with bourbon.
YMMV FReegards, CM
good sex 2 or 3 times a week would have the same effect...
It may not work for everyone the way it works for me (your mileage may vary) BUT when I fast by eating only in the morning my energy level and the way I feel jumps up significantly. I mean it's night and day and it starts the first afternoon when you start to think about eating.
Books have been written about the chemical aspects, but, from a purely anecdotal POV, it feels like your body is waking up from a very groggy nap. All of a sudden your mind is wide awake and crystal clear.
Of course the reason your mind is crystal clear is that it is thinking about food, but once your mind and body realize that food isn't forthcoming (because you have made a decision not to feed them), the food concern goes away and you are left with a very clear head and a very awake body.
I am keenly aware of this because I didn't fast yesterday and I feel like crap this morning.
As to the topic of this thread, fasting will definitely add years to your life and those years will be of higher quality.
Those interested in the mechanics behind fasting should research the subject of "autophagy." Here is a snippet from Healthline.com:
What are the benefits of autophagy? The main benefits of autophagy seem to come in the form of anti-aging principles. In fact, Petre says it’s best known as the body’s way of turning the clock back and creating younger cells.
Khorana points out that when our cells are stressed, autophagy is increased in order to protect us, which helps enhance your lifespan.
Additionally, registered dietitian, Scott Keatley, RD, CDN, says that in times of starvation, autophagy keeps the body going by breaking down cellular material and reusing it for necessary processes.
“Of course this takes energy and cannot continue forever, but it gives us more time to find nourishment,” he adds.
At the cellular level, Petre says the benefits of autophagy include:
Autophagy is receiving a lot of attention for the role it may play in preventing or treating cancer, too.
- removing toxic proteins from the cells that are attributed to neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease
- recycling residual proteins
- providing energy and building blocks for cells that could still benefit from repair
- on a larger scale, it prompts regeneration and healthy cells
*snip*
Remember that autophagy literally means “self-eating.” So, it makes sense that intermittent fasting and ketogenic diets are known to trigger autophagy.
“Fasting is [the] most effective way to trigger autophagy,” explains Petre.
“Ketosis, a diet high in fat and low in carbs brings the same benefits of fasting without fasting, like a shortcut to induce the same beneficial metabolic changes,” she adds. “By not overwhelming the body with an external load, it gives the body a break to focus on its own health and repair.”
*snip*
“When the body is low on sugar through fasting or ketosis, it brings the positive stress that wakes up the survival repairing mode,” she adds.
One non-diet area that may also play a role in inducing autophagy is exercise. According to one animal study, physical exercise may induce autophagy in organs that are part of metabolic regulation processes.
This can include the muscles, liver, pancreas, and adipose tissue.
If it doesn’t include ice cream, I am not interested.
