I’m sure diet could prevent a lot of type 2 diabetes. I worked with a woman that said she got it, and her doctor told her she could control it with diet, but she’d rather take an insulin shot and eat what she wanted.

The ketogenic diet was originally developed almost 100 years ago to treat epilepsy. Nowadays, it is used as a nutrition plan by health-conscious men and women to optimize body composition and athletic performance.
Recent research suggests that high fat, very-low carb diets have another benefit: They may help control glucose, triglycerides, insulin, and body weight in people with diabetes. The research below shows the ketogenic diet may be an effective tool you can use to manage symptoms of Diabetes, alongside exercise and medication.

We have a few dear friends w/T2D...and, have gently suggested a few of the above. Seems to fall on deaf ears. We don't say anything, anymore....we just try to lead by example (diet wise).
My husband also does keto - they both started the same time. He had high cholesterol, borderline high bp, was overweight and high A1C…
His doctor advised him against the diet, he did it anyway and the same doc checked his blood work every 6 months. He dropped 60 lbs and all his numbers all got to the optimal range in one year and have stayed good. Over the years that same doc told him to keep doing what he’s doing.
He feels great on it, more clarity and energy. It works well for him, he loves meat and fat. I could not eat as much meat and fat as he does to do keto with him, but I don’t eat sugar, bread or other starches. Even doing that has helped me stay pretty healthy
