The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department has released the body-worn camera footage of the heroic officers who took down 28-year-old transgender shooter Audrey Elizabeth Hale, a former Covenant School student who went by the trans name "Aiden."
In the six-minute video posted to YouTube, two points-of-view are compiled, showing the perspectives of Officer Rex Engelbert, a four-year MNPD veteran, and Officer Michael Collazo, a nine-year MNPD veteran, the officers credited with fatally shooting Hale:
In the second-floor common area, a team of responding officers encountered Hale firing through a window at arriving police cars.
A map and writings, including a "manifesto," written by Hale revealed that her attack was "calculated and planned," MNPD says.
Three children were killed in the private Christian school shooting in addition to three faculty members: Evelyn Dieckhaus, William Kinney, and Hallie Scruggs, all age 9; Mike Hill, age 61, Cynthia Peak, age 61, and head of school Katherine Koonce, age 60.
In earlier footage released by MNPD, the armed trans militant, who attended the school years ago, arrived on campus in her Honda Fit. She was heavily armed with three guns and shot her way into the school through doors on the side of the building.
I've had some military tactical training and the best way to get yourself killed is to rush into a scene in a non-methodological manner. They did just fine.
Yeah. If you hear gunshots coming from down the hall, or see everyone fleeing from one direction that’s one thing. But otherwise you gotta clear... and in a hurry. And let other cops coming in behind do more detail searching...
I am sure, with all your building clearing expertise, the NPD will welcome your offer to train their officers.

Seemed like there was a disparity in training levels for all team members. Glad there were some who could command. Need more teamwork and routine in clearing. Gotta maintain field of fire discipline.
Transitioned from slow room clearing to response to shot sound fairly nicely though. Room clearing...increadibly dangerous work.

Although, as they were going in the building, the woman out front was saying “they are down the hall and up the stairs, shots are coming from there”.
Cops did good, but yeah, probably skip searching every room on initial entry. But even though it looked long, that was only around a minute of the assault time and overall the cops did good. Also they didn’t screw around with verbal challenges when they saw the wastrel.
You usually get 1 shot at such brazen terrorism. You get on a plane nowadays and act a fool you will be hogtied until the plane lands.

My husband mentioned something he called a “Belgian drill” and said it was ‘two in the pump and one in the noggin’.
He said this sounds like the Nashville cops got themselves some good training.

And when they cleared those rooms, they didn’t screw around looking in cabinets and every little hidey hole. And as each room was cleared they RAN to the classroom door... they had urgency. And you don’t need it stepping out behind you and lighting you up....
And time the video from going in the door until they were hearing shots and up the stairs. Maybe a minute and a few seconds.
I just hope they don’t treat these cops like children now, and swarm them with grief counselors and sensitivity. They need to decorate them with medals, and put a pig and a steer on a spit and have a large thank you event for them this saturday at a local park.
And looked like that first guy had some command bearing... probably an Army or Marine background. (Apologies to my old neighbor who was USAF security force for nukes... truly a terrifying badass)
