In 1973 a controversial meeting resulted in the DSM guide for physicians “depathologizing” homosexuality. It was not an easy decision and the doctors against it felt pressured and were threatened if they did not say they would go along.

This does not mean homosexuality is not the result of complex mental issues,merely that it couldn’t be treated by psychiatrists as such in a category.

The trans and other LGBTQ+ can still be crazy and a severe threat to us all.

One psychiatrist on a conservative talk show said his colleagues privately agree that the majority of gender changed patients have serious mental issues, more serious than the usual patients.
