Looks like you're going to have to pony up for Twitter
Twitter ^ | March 28 | Elon Musk

@elonmusk

Starting April 15th, only verified accounts will be eligible to be in For You recommendations.

The is the only realistic way to address advanced AI bot swarms taking over. It is otherwise a hopeless losing battle.

Voting in polls will require verification for same reason.

Looks like he's making more features pay-only.

$7/month...

I haven’t used Twitter yet.
The only way he’s going to fix what he’s done to himself is to accept that Twitter will always be a minor money maker for him and to just eat the costs as is. I don’t think Twitter can survive if he tries to turn it into a major money maker.

He’s saying it’s to stop the bots and make it better.

Only verified accounts and their posts will be “seen” widely (I think) and no voting in polls unless verified.

It’s a real shake up!

$7/month buys you a blue checkmark. You can operate just fine on Twitter without one.

Musk is forcing narcissists to pay up in order to feed their need to feel special.

They whine about it as send him $7.

“I haven’t used Twitter yet.”

I haven’t used it to tweet but am constantly getting referred to it for Ukraine videos and other content. Quite interesting at times.

He said with AI, you can unleash a swarm of BOTS for a penny. By raising the price to 7 bucks, BOT nets are prohibitively expensive.
And everyone who pays is a blue check... which will drive the libs utterly insane. I’ll pay 7 bucks to shake off all the fleas.

Ya, people are using it for vids instead of Utube.

Personally speaking, when I see a link is sending me to Twittier, I click out immediately. Been avoiding (anti)social media for so long it’s a conditioned reflex.

Thanks, but no thanks Elon. Never had a Twitter account, never will, and I certainly wouldn’t pay for it, nor Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, etc. I tried Parler. When that went offline, I tried Gab. Didn’t really use either of them. I also tried Truth Social, but got rid of all three of them last year. Frankly, I don’t know what people see in those sites. I’d rather spend my spare time reading books, than wasting time looking at reposted crap.

I signed up for Twitter about 10 years ago tweeted something harmless one time and haven't even been back there since I realized how lame it is

a few months ago I got an Email from Twitter saying I am "permanently suspended" for posting banned content , it also said "the offensive post will be left to be seen" although i cannot see what was said< I tried to answer the email and told them my account was hacked but , appeals denied by the Twit bots

Twitter is for Twits like Elon the Idiot deep state tool

It’s a real shake up!

A real shake up for the left that has been using Twitter to create a false reality. It stops that. It is a good move.

Well, if that is what it takes to filter out the bots, then it is worth it.

Never twittered, don’t pony up for squat neither. Which is why I don’t watch televised sports any longer.

Although Shinty is on YouTube.

A subscription model both defeats all the bots and removes the ability of Leftists to have any influence by getting corporations to not advertise if Musk doesn’t go along with their censorship agenda. Watch for poll results and subscriber follows, etc to dramatically change once this is implemented.

The official number of users will plunge dramatically and Leftists will claim this is some kind of repudiation of Musk when in reality, its mostly just bots dropping off.

If he’s going to turn Twitter into a major money maker, he will have to turn it into an all-in-one app with videos, a pay feature, etc etc. He’s talked about doing that. It will take time to build it out but there is great potential there.

Yes it’s very interesting... They were losing over a mil a day when he took over.

That’s not sustainable is it...

Twitter is much more interesting than FreeRepublic. It distributes information incredibly fast.

They were losing over $3 million per day when he took over.

He slashed the workforce from 7500 to 1300 and it still runs just fine. Which tells you about 83% of their employees weren’t contributing much. They’re getting close to break even now.

Wow I didn’t know that.

Those days are over. He’s going to have to make it sustainable or it’ll disappear.
