According to the Washington Examiner early betting is on Rand Paul to be VP choice
Washington Examiner ^ | Feb 22 | Paul Bedard

While there are a lot of choices, the early betting is on a Capitol Hill firebrand uniquely poised to bring in the libertarian wing of the GOP, which could provide a bump of 3% to 4% of the vote.

“There are only two realistic GOP nominees: Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis,” said an adviser to House Republicans who is also close to several past conservative presidential candidates.

Since neither is likely to pick the other as a running mate, the adviser offered libertarian Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) as a good fit.

“Rand Paul as VP for either eliminates the need for a libertarian nominee or third-party candidate," the adviser said. "And having that extra 3%-4% moving to the Republican ticket in 10-12 key states would be the margin of victory."

He would definitely have Trump's back.

What are your thoughts, Freepers?

I would like Rand Paul and Josh Hawley to run for President in 2024 because they will bring up things that otherwise might not be brought up.

Not a bad choice at all. I fully supported Rand for Pres. in 2016, until Trump came along and it was clear that Trump was the right man for the times.

One thing about Rand is that he is not just a ‘yes’ man or a backstabber like Pence. Rand is not afraid to buck the status quo.

My shortlist would be Gen. Flynn, Rand, Desantis if he can patch things up with Trump, Noem deserves a look i suppose but she’s had some issues, Kari Lake for sure.

I’ve always liked Rand Paul. He’d be a solid choice.

My thoughts? You can put together Dream Teams from now until doomsday, but unless our elections are honest it doesn’t mean a damn.

He speaks the language of the young-wouldn’t you agree? Plenty of dissent in his voice. No wars. Too much power amongst the elites. He’d be a good distraction when the MSM points out Trump’s divisiveness. Rand Paul would not be ‘admired’ the way McCain/Romney were beforehand. I think they’re scared of him. His cred is Dr. Fauchi. Same as RFK jr. He taps into all the anger and dissent. If Trump puts in 4 more years again Paul will show what freedom is. Freedom is not in Trumps’ talking points. He has to squish the deep state beforehand.

The late Walter E. Williams endorsed him in ‘16. None of the others.

“Violence and mob rule is wrong and un-American, and it will not bring about election reform.

Today’s mayhem sets back any intelligent debate for a generation. Just stop it.”

Rand, like his father, has moved with the Overton Window more than he would like to admit. What are his thoughts on the acceptability of "gay marriage," for instance? That is pretty much a forced acceptance on society today, but that doesn't mean that he can't take the opposing stance.

“You never give up a Senate seat”.

I think that’s smart. Also, I think those with executive experience in the private sector would make better picks.

I’d rather he replace Turtle but he would make a great VP.

I wouldn’t have a problem with RP being #1 on a ticket.

I don’t see him as VP for Trump, although he would be excellent. If he could get through a 2024-2028 term as VP, he could then be #1 for eight years. That would be OK.

Don’t forget: There NEVER will be another GOP President if the cheating problem isn’t fixed.

“it will not bring about election reform”

I’d like Rand to tell us all what he thinks would bring that about...
