Nice- with the personal attacks- I thougt you DeSantians and your ilk were the polite group LOL

I had some modicum of respect for Ron DeSantis up to today.
That vanished with his silence on this witch hunt of President Trump.
Vivek, on the other hand, has shot way up in my estimation.

Response to a similar issue here, reposting to save time: https://freerepublic.com/focus/news/4131366/posts?page=104#35 There’s some serious concern whether DeSantis is a pedo “ groomer”.
Completely illegitimate. I posted about this on another thread:
From Wikipedia: Contrary to popular belief, only a few states prohibit minors and young adults from consuming alcohol in private settings.
I went to prep school in Connecticut when the age was 18 and just starting to be raised. There were parties at students houses with underage drinkers.
The "BAD" parties were the ones when the parents were out of town for the weekend and the son invites 100 people over and there's lots of drugs, beer bongs, Everclear, etc.. At one such party, the kid was caught because some of his guests stole the silverware, earning him the nickname "Silver" from then on.
The "GOOD" ones had the parents supervising. Numbers were limited, guests lists were curated. Drinking was kept within bounds. Behavior was better, and any drug use was done out of sight.
Almost half of the prep school teachers were young men working on a Masters or just taking the prep school teaching gig until something better came along. A small number of those became "lifers", their wives consigned to Dorm Mom duties, and the teachers themselves to lots of extra sports coaching.
I don't recall a teacher attending one of these parties, but it wouldn't have been the end of the world if one did. And yes, sometimes the young girls gravitated towards such teachers, and sometimes the wives were annoyed.
When the hosts of the party is the girl salutorian's Methodist Pastor father and mother, it is hard to be too scandalized.
The fact is that some of the Seniors and Juniors could get dolled up, go for a night on the town with such a teacher, and it would just look like an attractive young adult couple enjoying each other's company. My wife was 19 when I married her. We married in Canada, so she obtained the liquor license. Some girls don't finish high school until 19. The year I graduated I went to a debutante ball held in honor of a hard-working young woman who wound up becoming a judge. Her family was of the urban black evangelical variety and she was a credit to her family, which is why they sprung for an expensive party at the New Haven Park Plaza. There was drinking, and no carding.
No one was scandalized. Not even in Puritan New England.
Trump was a great President. He still has my support, but this is a bad attack that I would expect from a Roundhead like Christine Todd-Whitman.
Some have stated that the times are different now. So this WILL be an issue. If we let these perv-puritans dictate terms to us, it will not help us. I'm done with playing this game. DeSantis has his issues, this is not one of them . . . certainly not for me.

You really want to compare moral behavior between Trump and DeSantis? Neither man is a saint, but AFAIK, Ron hasn’t paid any hush money to a porn star.
Since "Stormy Daniels" has publicly come out and stated that there was no affair and nothing happened between her and Trump, and Trump, at the time, just paid her off to make her go away, what immorality occured?

Well, that decides it! The only criteria we need to consider. Track record of success as POTUS is irrelevant.

I am no roundhead (very strange ideation, btw), but the tenor of your reply leads me to believe you are no ally to American nationalism or populism. I replied to you in good faith. You replied with thinly veiled contempt, typical of DeSantian/ Bushites. Respectfully, to hell with you, sir.

Yep. That about sums it up. Anything good DeSantis did as governor, he was allowed to do. If DeSantis’s donors and handlers tell him not to do something, then he won’t do it. He doesn’t have the independence or character to defy them.

We know now that Trump pulled the Tuesday date for his arrest out of the hat, with nothing to back it up, ...That is false. Trump made his statement Saturday the 19th. Here is just one media report from the 17th saying the same thing.
Law enforcement agencies are prepping for a possible Trump indictment as early as next week NBC March 17, 2023 Local, state and federal law enforcement and security agencies are preparing for the possibility that former President Donald Trump will be indicted as early as next week, according to five senior officials familiar with the preparations.
In fact numerous news outlets were saying it all last week.

Frankly, circa late 1970’s-early 1980’s boarding school- where did you got to college LOL- you seem like a Rockefeller Republican- the same type who supported Chris Christie, Sunnunu, Romney etc- ie. a cancer upon the movement. Maybe I am wrong, but I rather doubt it. I don’t like to accuse Boomers of ruining the country, but you seem just the type who foisted the Bushes and Dole upon us all.

I support Trump over DeSantis. I also voted Zdonczyk over Bush in 1992, and Buchanan over Bush the Younger in 2000. I don't trust DeSantis on globalism/Ukraine. I would rather that Trump attack DeSantis for his failings, not garbage.
I post here plenty, and you can figure me out from the full body of my work. Do note that my response was a cut and paste in response to the suggestion that DeSantis is a groomer, and was not aimed at you specifically. I didn't feel like re-typing the whole thing, so I didn't even know of your post when I originally typed it.

“…not sure how one can reasonably think DeSantis is obligated to speak up on Trump’s behalf at this point…”
That opportunity for DeSantis is home. People make the mistaken assumption that Trump is hoping he can bad mouth DeSantis into supporting him
That’s not what’s happening
Likely, Trump asked DeSantis for his endorsement and DeSantis turned him down
In any case, trum is not looking for DeSantis endorsement.

So, instead of answering the question, you dodge it by accusing me of something bizarrely irrelevant and blatantly untrue.
Nice usage of deflection there guy!
Spoken just like a true-blue Democrat!

Thank you for clarifying. That being said, these are perilous times, and you should probably be more circumspect in your internal attacks. Many of us younger folk believe Ron DeSantis is a wolf in sheep’s clothing, and the actions of his surrogates have done nothing to dissuade this. The DeSantis v Trump narrative is externally imposed. Please do not buy into it. I understand that Ron DeSantis is a tolerable governor in a fully red state, but that isn’t the American nation- and his platitudes won’t save us- more of the same. If you feel I personally attacked you, I apologize, but is hard to distinguish the near enemy.

No problem, which is why I didn’t match return fire.
Trump proved himself to me by his actions on Title X, and generally pursuing as much great policy as he did despite the attacks from supposed allies as well as enemies.
However, if he makes what I think is an unfair attack, I will state my true opinion. For instance, I didn’t like when he attacked Scott Walker in 2016 for his virtues, repeating inaccurate and misleading Madison Dem talking points almost verbatim. Walker wasn’t ready for prime time, but the specific attacks were unfair. Trump is Trump, and some funny things come tied to his virtues, but I don’t have to like all of it.
If Trump weren’t a threat to the bad guys, they wouldn’t be talking about arresting him. Even if he were kept from winning, the MAGA coalition MUST be held together until the Romneys are chased out, to be replaced with more numerous but cash poor disaffected working class Americans.
