The time has come to think the unthinkable: move the capital. Crime, disorder, and an irresponsible local government are Washington's liabilities.
The Constitution sets up no barriers to moving the capital to a new location. Article I, Section 8 says only that Congress shall exercise exclusive jurisdiction over a district designated as the seat of government as ceded by particular states and not exceeding 10 square miles in area. Congress can move the capital by statute if it wishes to do so. A constitutional amendment is not required.

His reasons are half serious. Sure D.C. has crime and the vote left but carving out a district in the 4 corners out west? At least there'd no crime to start with.
Decentralized federal power would help. Department of the Interior in Kansas. Department of Energy in Texas. Department of Education in Mississippi. Leave as little as possible in Washington DC.
No, it is not time to move the Capitol. It is time to scatter the various bureaucratic departments among the various states.
Ten square miles outside of Nome, a few hundred miles south and west of where we put the camps for illegal aliens awaiting hearing and deportation would work for me.
My reasons for the move would be more sinister. Turn Virginia red again.
Those that follow their jobs would take their votes with them. Those that quit would move to cheaper(safe) places.
Nancy’s cross country flights would be cut in half so there’s something in it for her.
Some of them should be relocated to Challenger Deep ...
Move it to a place where they don’t complain that all the money we send to them is not enough.
Good thinking!
That’s a smart idea!
DC should be dismantled for other reasons as well:
The current DC government is a Corporation founded upon Admiralty Law since the Act of 1871. It is “foreign” territory much like the City of London and the Vatican.
And, as corporations go, it is bankrupt. Not a plug nickle of real money will ever pay back the $31.6 Trillion debt, nor the hundreds of trillions of unfunded liabilities.
Maybe, if the global warming hysteria was real, the place should be flooding like it historically did. /s
My friends the key part of this is that congress can do this with no outside input. Moving departments to troubled cities would rejuvenate downtowns. The big island of Hawaii is underdeveloped. I’d move SSI there.
Giving federal lands to the states would rejuvenate oil/coal. No feds in the way.
Would a GOP majority in both houses have the balls? It would not effect the majority of Americans. They’d pay close attention-a teachable moment on how government works.
That new FBI building-ph—k off!
Capitol, as in building where Congress meets, is misspelled.
Figures. Go woke, go broke ...
The corruption will remain the same regardless of where the capital is located.
Only if you totally strip it of self-government. Otherwise it would just reappear as itself again.
The Aleutians.
We can barely accomplish small things.
Big things are out of reach. Sorry.
The article is about moving the Capital City.
You’d have to move the occult sun worship obelisk and the occult pregnant dome together.
Some day in the future, those are probably leveled in a nation that began like His New Covenant Church.
They have a smaller set at their kindred sister, the Vatican.
That’s prophetic, but not in a way that’s good news for DC or the Vatican..
Hi.
If you move the capital back to Philly, it won’t change a thing.
