When we got our youngest she was labeled as socially and mentally retarded. She was four and in every program they could stick her in. After about three months we felt that the programs were not doing any good. So we petitioned the court to be allowed to remove her from the programs and home school her. The judge finally was won over by DH saying that we could hardly do worse then “teachers” that left her in the same diaper all day.
It has been four years of hard work and a lot of tears from all of us but she is now rated as normal socially and slightly advanced scholastically.
We are not super teacher or anything, we just wanted her to be the most she could be.
