Two U.S. citizens who were kidnapped last week in a northern Mexico border city were found dead and two others are still alive, the state's governor said Tuesday.
One of the surviving citizens is wounded and the other is not, Tamaulipas Gov. Américo Villarreal said, according to The Associated Press.
The Americans were caught in the crossfire of the cartel on Friday shortly after entering Mexico.
Even north of the border isn’t safe if they want something you have.................
“These drug cartels have a strangle hold on Mexico don’t they?”
These cartels RULE MEXICO, make no mistake about it.
The level of ignorance about Mexico in this thread is absolutely stunning. Approximately 30 million Americans travel to Mexico every year. About one and a half million Americans live in Mexico year round. The murder rate of Americans in Mexico per 100,000 people is less than 0.5. Some of you are letting ideology get in the way of the facts. There is nothing conservative about doing that.
I’d say send in the army but last I looked Winfield Scott was not available. Worse milli vanilli would probably call ahead and tell them we are coming.
“The only way to win is get more votes then they can steal. I don’t know if that’s possible.”
It’s possible, when things get bad enough. Cracks are starting to show. A relative, long-time Dem catholic and grandmother, is fed up with the depravity and switching to Independent.
“The cartels own not only key pieces of the Mexican government, but the U.S. government as well. Including the ‘big guy.’”
In 2001 I heard that the POTUS also was owned by the cartels.
That’s why you focus on their operations in CONUS. You don’t have to go into Mexico. When you catch the bad guys, you deport them.
It’s the chance to experience a foreign culture and way of life. But skip Mexico and head to Belize or Panama or the Carribean.
Didn’t wealthy Americans, Hollywood actors and celebrities used to vacation and even own homes in Acapulco, etc?
Didn’t Americans used to visit Mexico City on vacation and take unescorted excursions into the countryside to see ancient ruins, local attractions, etc? Without fear of imminent death?
Never been to Tijuana.
Has or had a bawdy reputation.
Can Americans even still visit there reasonably safely? Like day trip, no car with, daylight hours?
I was going to say - with or without their heads?
I did in 1973.
2023, no way..................
Biden didn’t earn his family fortune by wisely investing his U.S. Senate and vice presidential salary just as surely as Jeff Epstein didn’t commit suicide.
The drug cartels ARE the government in Mexico.
Border towns used to be that way. You could walk across the river, spend a day in Mexico and have a good dinner or something else. Those days are gone. Do NOT take any kind of vehicle into Mexico. Rent car companies make it very clear that their cars are not to go into Mexico. Over the last 20 years the cartels have taken over local governments, then states now they run the country. The federales are there for show.
Ditto for AOC. Arrived in DC will almost zero money. Gets the regular pay for her job. Now she is multi-millionaire.

Of course, that didn't stop the adventurous ones, who came back with tales of cheap booze, loose women and authentic Mexican food.
Our CO at one point told us all that if any one of us got in trouble down there, we were on our own and would be considered AWOL.
A friend of mine’s brother drove down to Belize. On his way back through Mexico he was stopped by the federales. They “found” drugs in the trunk and threw him in jail and seized his car. Cops now had a new car. It took the intervention of a US Senator to get this guy back to the states. This was in the 80’s.
