DEY TOOK MAH JOB! DEY TERK MEH JERB! D'TERK M'JERB! DURKA DURKA DERRRR!
So, a layoff is imminent. My company, a health insurance company, is getting rid of a large bread-and-butter portion of their focus, namely Employee Group insurance. That's the health insurance component that employers give employees.
Guess what area of the company I work for?
The layoff could occur as soon as 60 days from now, or (at max) 6 months from now.
So my manager, who really loves my work, gave me a inside-scoop that our area (Producer Services, basically sales commissions for agents) is going away. I think I better proactively move.
So, any Freepers who need a skilled web- and winforms-developer who is an expert in SQL, please contact me.
A little of what I offer:
If you know someone who is in the industry in a hiring authority (or even not!), ping them to this thread.
This is a difficult time for even experienced developers. There are lots of people from Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, and excetera who are very skilled and who are competing with people like me. However, I got something they don't: I'm not a liberal woke a-hole. :)
I speak for all Freepers when I say we would all sign up for your Fans Only page. You have a great name for it.
OK I’m kidding. I honestly hope you find something better than your leaving. Good Luck and take care.
BTW, are you close to any military base. Lots of contractor work for your skills.
Best of Luck. Like someone previously said, a new door will open for you.
Have you ever wondered what would your name be if you were an Indian?

The problem with tech jobs is they can easily be outsourced to countries where the cost of labor is lower, and where there are also billions of people among whom the top 1 percent are naturally very smart. Manufacturing jobs were outsourced by moving the factories “overseas” (ok Mexico is not overseas but you get the idea). Labor has been fighting with capital for gee 200 years. But I just paid an electrician $125 an hour for 18 hours work. That’s 250k at an annual rate. Because electricians need a license, they have to have an EAD (employment authorization document). If I were 20 I would consider engineering or some field where you have to be physically present and have some kind of professional license. Law and accounting are hard to outsource. Or just compete with tens of millions of smart poor people in India and China. Not much it the way of practical advice, sorry. I think we put too much value on clean hands.
Well, I suppose the Dobbins AF base is close enough.
Lots of gov’t though, like the CDC...but my opinion of them, once high, has faltered.
Also you don’t have to worry about taking care of the health insurance when they are overseas.
It’s the main reason we have to decouple health insurance from employment.
Props to your cool boss for the heads up. Good luck on the search.
I know a serious situation, but in the spirit of your sense of humor...have you considered OnlyFans? ;)
BTTT!!!!!
With prayers FRiend 😌
“Gives you time to plan financially for it, cutting any unnecessary spending now and banking every penny you can in the interim.”
Critical and good advice re the personal finances.
Never had clean hands and always in demand.
^BUT ONLY IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION LIKE THIS!^
Good luck, I know how you feel, I was in the same position at one time in the past. I became very anxious, since I was close to retirement and had a few bills to pay. It will all work out in the end especially with your skill base. DuckMan.
Stunning news.
Dey terk yer jarb? But did you Take Dare Jab?
Best wishes for your imminent adventure.
Prayers up for you my FRiend! Praying that you find something better.
Get an account at USAJobs.gov and poke around. You’ll likely find something in the computer field. Then have a look clearance jobs and search for Robbins AFB. Also check out LinkedIn and search for Robbins AFB. Believe it or not I once got some good job hits on Monster. Or you can wait for the good money when WW III breaks out and go to Poland to support the build up.
PM sent.
Actually, low to mid level finance & accounting and legal jobs are some of the most outsourced. Lots of repetitive, rules-based processes and pretty much every document is electronic.

So you deny camping in the woods at the old Atlanta Prison Farm?
“USAJobs”
I hear they are hiring IRS agents. :-)
Actually—an excellent suggestion. Those are real jobs and are all over the country.
