Queen Elizabeth II offered Frogmore Cottage to the couple at the time of their wedding, and it was the couple’s home base on infrequent visits to Britain.
Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, have been asked to move out of Frogmore Cottage, their five-bedroom Georgian house on the grounds of Windsor Castle, the couple’s press secretary said, in a further sign of the bitter rupture between them and the British royal family since they withdrew from royal duties and left Britain.
Queen Elizabeth II offered the house to the couple, known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, at the time of their wedding in 2018. It has served as their home base on infrequent visits to Britain since they relocated to Montecito, Calif.
“We can confirm the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been requested to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage,” said the press secretary, Ashley Hansen, who is head of communications for the couple’s foundation, Archewell.
Ms. Hansen did not provide further details about the reasons for or timing of the eviction, which was first reported on Wednesday by The Sun, a British tabloid. The Sun said that King Charles III had made the decision shortly after the publication of Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” which is replete with scorching accounts of Harry’s dysfunctional relationship with Charles, his father; and with his brother, Prince William.

RE: Royal Cottage
When I see the word Cottage, it reminds me of a simple house, a small, cozy home in the countryside—often a summer home or vacation home.
Now, what on earth is a ROYAL cottage? Can anybody atleast show us a picture of this?
Poor Harry, he must be a dunce. If he had an ounce of sense he would have deduced that a wife’s efforts to turn you against your own family speaks volumes about what kind of person SHE is. Oh well, perhaps he wishes to enjoy all the benefits of living in exile.
Count the silver before they leave. Fracking grifters.
Reminds of the old story; A man without a country.
This dreadful couple demanded an apology from the king. Not a good idea. They got an eviction notice instead of an apology.
The titles are next to go. Charles will remove all of Harry’s titles except the Earl of Dumbarton.
Nice crib. Sort of small by comparison to its neighbor, Buckingham Palace, but then most houses would be...
Frogmore Cottage produced by Julian Fellowes. It’s a eurotrash version of Downton Abbey.
It's all relative. And Harry is considered - or was - a royal relative.
I’ve read much of that history and it is just like a reality show, and you listed some of the least heinous things that happened in that family.
Was it Richard III who had so many bastard children that there is now an entire surname that belongs to them?
They became referred to a Rick’s which became the surname Hicks.
And don’t mention the death of Edward II.
Plenty of space to hide from Meghan.
That’s a cottage?
WOW!
It was too small?
WOW!
Now show us a photo of the woodshed.
The architecture is kind of boring and crackerbox-ish, but the purpose may be
utilitarian. Perhaps it’s not meant to be a showplace.
Harry & Meghan wanted the benefits of royalty without having to perform any royal duties. Glad Charles is kicking them out of Frogmore. The press is reporting that Frogmore will be Andrew's new home, as The Royal Lodge at Windsor is too expensive for him to afford. I'm assuming Sarah Ferguson will go with him. They've been living together all these years despite being divorced. Just saw an article today about Sarah adopting the Queen's Corgis. Apparently she and Andrew gifted the pair of Corgi's to the Queen after her old Corgis had died. Saw an article this morning featuring a photo of her with the two dogs, and her kind words about the Queen. Apparently she idolized her mother-in-law.

Harry is suing the British police for refusing to provide him special security during his rare visits to England. I watched a British-produced program last night that featured a short segment on the Queen's Platinum Jubilee last year. When the family came out on the balcony at Buckingham Palace, the Queen restricted the event to only working royals, so Andrew, Harry, and Meghan were not allowed on the balcony. They watched everything from a window inside the palace. They also raised the question of whether Harry would be allowed to show up for his father's Coronation in May. I'm not a follower of the royal family, just an avid reader of British history. If Meghan thinks she had it tough, she should read the life of Catherine of Aragon, and the years she was stuck in England after the death of Prince Arthur, not knowing which way her life was going to go, being dumped all those years later by Henry, and not allowed to see her only child while in exile.
On the English estates, the term “cottage” is used to describe a house, other than the main house. Usually the main house is huge, with the cottages varying in size. Some are small with some large. The cottages are either rented out to tenants or used by members of the extended family.
