Our Kenmore Elite induction range, if I remember right, cost us around $1500 around 20 years ago. I see it is now up to $1700.
Knock on wood, so far it has performed flawlessly, saving us about 15% on electricity.
I have no idea how much a resistance range costs, and don't care, as I would never buy one again.
You have instant control over the heat with an induction range, and instant heating if the pot or pan with the cook top remaining mostly cool, only heated by the heat from the pot or pan.
When "new" technology actually works, I like to use it.
